Rallycross Superprix

Really looking forward to this - always a good event.

Any ideas on when we might see the first entry list? They usually have it out pretty early and then frequently update it.

Thoughts on the likely European contingent? Hopefully there will be an improvement on last year.

Interestingly, the website shows some figures for the entry list, but no names - http://www.rallycrosssuperprix.co.uk/?page=entry

This was, until recently, showing the 2008 entry figures, but the numbers (and categories) have definitely changed, so maybe we will not have to wait long for some names.

If you click on their 'news' page as well it gives you a few of the names who have entered from Europe.

A maximum of 20 supercars?, bit low I think, there was a lot more than the last year.

21 was the total given on the entry for last years event, its set at 20 cos of the knockout format that is used eg two groups of 10 cars working there way to make the grid for the ten car "superprix" itself

Anybody got any ideas why it is being called the BARC Rallycross Superprix. Is it simply due to the circuit management rather than the Organisers ??

Looking at the offer it seems to me it's more of a Croft Circuit promotion, rather than a PSM one.

Rallycross Superprix

FAST LADY HEADS FOR RALLYCROSS SUPERPRIX

Leading female Norwegian Division 1 driver Camilla Antonsen is the latest addition for the 2009 Get Connected! SG Petch Rallycross Superprix with her ex-Sverre Isachsen Ford Focus which takes place at Croft later this month.

This will be the first time that Antonsen has raced at Croft in the Rallycross Superprix, but having a career full of success, she can be expected to be among the front runners at the event. It will also be the first time that a female driver has a raced a four-wheel drive Division 1 specification Rallycross car in Great Britain.

Other continental drivers so far include Czech Republic competitor, Jiri Galuska in his new shape Division 1 Ford Fiesta as well as Jef Mertens and Jelle Blockx from Belgium will take on the Procar 2000 competitors at the wheel of their Opel Astras.

Two leading Super National competitors, Ola Froshaug and Stein Egil Jenssen from Norway return to the event determined to win the Superprix Super National title for the first time in one of their spectacular Volvo S40s also. Jenssen had been scheduled to drive his Division 1 Ford Focus at the event but has been forced to switch to the Volvo S40 after he heavily damaged the Focus in the final event of the Rallycross Norden series recently.

Polish drivers, Piotr Starobrat, Witold Starobrat and Lukasz Kabacinski have confirmed that they will form a three-car attack with their 2.5 litre BMW E36s. Starobrat and Kabacinksi raced in the event last year with a Division 1 Ford Focus and Subaru Impreza respectively.

As well as the top British drivers, including local aces Kevin Procter (Ford Focus) and 'Mad' Mark Watson (Citroen Xsara), Ripon rally driver Charlie Payne will be at the wheel of Jean Luc Paillier's Peugeot 207 WRC, and lots more top British as well as international entries are expected to be confirmed shortly for the event which takes place over the weekend of 31st October and 1st November and incorporates the final round of the 2009 Fuchs Lubricants Rallycross Open Championship.

In addition, the Cartersport Rally Car Challenge has attracted plenty of interest with leading local ace Dave Craven (Mitsubishi) taking on a dozen other drivers including Darren Grimston (Ford Escort) and Larry Carter (Peugeot 206) and with limited places remaining, potential competitors are urged to submit their entries quickly to avoid disappointment.
  • The organisers are holding a media day ahead of the Superprix on Thursday October 29th between 1pm and 3pm at Croft Circuit whereby a total of five cars and drivers will be in attendance. So far, these include 'Mad' Mark Watson (Citroen Xsara), Charlie Payne (Peugeot 207) and Kevin Procter (Ford Focus). There will be opportunities for interviews, television footage and pictures and for further information, please contact Peter Stott on 07791 900770.

Nothing to explain now you've flagged the post up, Bert, it's just it was posted over 24 hours ago and didn't realise that it took that long to approve that's all.

Bardy in "Evans" astra? Is this the first superprix Evans has missed?

Are all the 2 wheel drive cars running together as just one class?

Nice to see Boak out to play

i think they are running erc style where cars of a similar pace will be in heats together so its not likley that volvos will be picking there way through stock hatches and minis

isnt it some kind of knockout-style format? If so, would be really daft to put the fast and slow ones together!

Anyone know when the Open series entry list is due - am making my first ever trip to Croft for this one!

It is actually the furthest north that I have ever been (pretty tragic at 25 years old!)

The entry list for the Open Championship is supposed to be released on 23rd Oct according to the website, so check back then.

Welcome to the north! Hope you enjoy Croft. I'll be one of the merry band in orange and this event normally produces some good entertainment.

Pretty poor Division 1 entry - the ERC round at Lydden earlier in the year was the international highlight of the rallycross year in the UK (although superprix has been for the last few years) and seems to have taken it's toll as to lack of quality Division 1 machinery. I don't think next year bodes well for the superprix considering a further ERC round and perhaps a seperate British Rallycross Grand Prix event.

Bardy should be in the mix too I would have thought.

My guess is it's between Proctor, Bardy and possibly Vitanen if the car holds.

Numbers wise it's pretty good, just a shame there's not any huge ERC names from the continent, although any ideas on the TBA? Lets hope we get a couple of late entries to fill the 2 remaining Div 1 slots.

I reckon the Supernationals may produce the best racing.

Whatever happens it should be an awesome w/e!

Just out of interest, what does (1R) mean next to three of the supercars - a Sierra Cosworth, an Audi A4 and a Scooby?

Also hope that they can get a couple more there; maybe Ollie and Per in the Saabs! TBC... Andrew Jordan?!

i would have thought the TBA is possibly ollie o'd, seeing as there is no mention of him on the entry list in div1 or rx150's and with the buggys being there so will ollie as they very rare go anywhere with out him.
wonder if he''ll borrow the rs200 again ( here's hoping )
