Racing tire dealers in the US
I am looking for GT style tires in the 31/71/18 to 330/710/18 range and it seems that dealers are nowhere to be found in the US. I can't even find information.
I did find a small local dealer for michelin slicks, but where are all the bridgestone, dunlop, advan/yokahama slicks? Do they offer slicks to the public? Happy Holidays! Christian |

Christian Where do you live? I have a whole bunch of dealers. Depending on where you live to best shipping
I purchase mine from Sassco as they are located at VIR and only 90 min away from me Last edited by AU N EGL; 26 Dec 2008 at 18:52. |

http://www.sscc.us/ I think TireRack is a sponsor of the event. You may have to purchase tires from Tire Rack in order to race the SSCC. Check the rules. Good Luck |

Thanks for the great links. The only one I've seen before is Bowmanized, which is where I will go for michelin slicks.
I'm interested in how these tires compare, for grip, feel, and life, in the different brand and sizes. The michelin slick is 315mm wide(tread) and roughly 28" tall, where hoosier and kumho both have a tire that is 345mm wide and roughly 27.5" tall. I can fit just about anything I want into the front and rear of this car as it is being built around the tires. SSCC recommends DOT tires for everything under the unlimited class, where they prefer slicks. I plan to hit as many tracks as possible, mainly for fun and learning. |

If you have not run with the SSCC before they do have limitations as to what class you can run in. Two years ago I knew some one who showed up with an unlimted class car, all excited to race. Then sent him home as he never held a race lic let along run with the SSCC before. Go with NASA- No Cal. Great track time an wheel to wheel racing. http://www.nasaproracing.com/norcal/ I race NASA South East and Mid Atlantic Mich have more grip, and rubber choices then Hoosier or Kumho. Mich are also much more expesive. I go though new set of Hoosiers per race weekend. then relegate those tires to next race weekend practice tires, then to track days or sell them. In most cases I sell them with 6 heat cycles on. Last edited by AU N EGL; 28 Dec 2008 at 19:56. |
