Le Mans 2005!

For the past few years I have started a thread on the Monday after Le Mans inviting you all to discuss your plans for attending next year and for us to arrange suitable times and places for us to meet and share a beer.

If you are in any doubt about attending your first Le Mans then have a read of these few links for a little bit of an idea about why you really should go:

2004 - [here]
2003 - [here]

Please keep this thread for discussing who is going, where you're staying, what your plans are for the race and that type of thing. This is also the place for asking advice from others about campsites, travel etc. If you wish to discuss other aspects of the race (entry list rumours, track changes, etc) then please start a new topic.

Not sure whether or not I will be attending next year but I would really quite like to - especially if I can meet a few more of you lot! As I have said on previous posts it might be nice to arrange a meet up at Arnage during the night... everyone seems to go there at some point so how about it?

Garcon - I went with Spoonerboro and AllonFS this year and really enjoyed the camping thing as we were in a motorhome. I am already considering hiring a larger model next year, maybe even a Winebago depending on costs, maybe you'd like to join us? Allon - what do you think to a return visit next year?? I hope you enjoyed the trip?

Excellent stuff, Garc. I am not sure if Simon and Kim will be going next year yet but, by the sounds of it, yourself, Allon and I are interested. I'll drop you a line shortly and we'll see if we can't work something out

PS As far as I am aware you can drive the Winnebago on a normal licence. The problem is getting one on a self-drive basis. Most companies I have spoken to expect to deliver the thing for you at great expense! I wonder if anyone can suggest a suitable company??

I will be there with my team, or a newer version of same. We are debating about where to camp as we had a good place in Houx Annex except for next door with their Elvis concert and flag stealers, but we really liked KN being next to the track and the toilet block is far better there.

We will be hiring more journalists next year. The ACO have cracked down on photographers and we will be taking one only, the others will be taking photos in areas where they don't need vests.

I want to get out of the paddock next year except to go home and sleep! So I need more help for next year.

Not much hair left to need shampoo, ohh, oops, that's not what you meant. I'll dig out some English sparkling wine for the occasion, might be tricky to keep cool on the journey though.
BTW, sorry to miss you guys on the Sunday, I kept nodding off to sleep (literally for a few seconds at a time) in the Pits Grandstand after finally managing the whole night without sleep (wasn't it cold during the night this year!).

I certainly intend to be there, and hopefully camping again as it was so much better than the dreaded coach trip.

And here's a threat to you all, I will try very hard to bring a bottle of English white wine to the meeting and prove that we do produce more than just beer!

Try and stop me mate. I had a great time with you guys, (and Tim and Phil), and would certainly like to do the same again next year. I'd love to see the look on the man at the gate on Thursday evening if we turned up in a Winebago... Maybe just a larger model of motorhome to avoid a hearty (hey Spoonerboro)? It was definitely my best Le Mans yet for meeting people and seeing the race from nearly all my favourite vantage points, (only missed out on the Porsche curves). Thanks again guys.

(P.S. Only just picked up your text Craig, mobile has gone away for another year! Journey back was fine and as you can tell, I had an excellent time)

Alan Green should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Advanced planning is already underway - group of about least ten going for definate next year (my 30th birthday year, and a friends birthday weekend).

There'll be two LDV campers, one Land Rover camper, one MGF, and another runaround maybe, and we'll be there from Wednesday.

The only question is whether we go there to marshal, so get free trackside camping and guest tickets and have to be up during the night but be (reasonably) sensible, or sample the delights of Maison Blanche and partake in much alcohol and sillyness. A dilemma indeed...

Things keep getting in the way (mainly $$s and medical problems). I've been over 20 times, but the last time was 1987. The first time was 1949 (I was 1 1/2)
