So come on BARC send a little bit of "NORTHERN IRELAND" Craic Please.

Damnit, now I'm going to be sat here for the next 2 hours, until the postie comes, thinking of nothing else.......(probably only to get a rejection)

PS. Can anybody confirm if/when they get a rejection letter, just so that we know if lack of a letter today means rejection or just delayed post.

Just was reading the embassy guidelines for Abu Dhabi and came across this

Quote:
Some prescribed and over the counter medicines that are available in the UK are considered to be controlled substances in the UAE. Any such medication is not allowed into the UAE without prior permission from the UAE Ministry of Health. If a passenger arrives in the UAE without prior approval and the required documentation, the medication will not be allowed into the UAE and the person may be subject to prosecution under the laws of the UAE.

The Embassy therefore recommends that you contact the Ministry of Health Drug Control Department (DCD) to check whether your medication is on the controlled list and as such requires prior permission for importation. The Customer Service Centre of the DCD can be contacted by e-mailing drugcl.csc@moh.gov.ae, by telephone on (00) 971 2 611 7240 or by fax (00) 971 2 632 7644.
Link to Embassy guidelines

Glad i checked as one of my prescriptions is on the controlled substance list.

The BARC always said they would let you know early July so it's bang on time. You have to appreciate the enormous amount of work that is involved in organising trips like this!

I cant thank them enough, since i started marshaling one of my aims was to marshal abroad and theyve made it happen. Thanks to all those involved behind the scenes i bet it is a mammoth task!!!

It could be worse. You could get home and find nothing. Postie has been to the office today, and there's nothing for me at all, acceptance or rejection.... Guess I wait....

Thanks for the info Now I have to pray that the postie arrives before 12 tomorrow (although he usually does), as I'm off to the Brawn factory, then Cadwell in the afternoon.

Hi,

Just read a large part of this thread, interesting insight into what you guys are up to and some of the organisation required, certainly happy to know you'll be there and helping to train the locals. I do travel worldwide in my job and British Marshals (you guys) are regarded as the best in the world.

I'm not a marshal but a racer myself and primarilly a driver coach. I'll be in Abu-Dhabi with 2 drivers that I am coaching in the Chevrolet V8 Supercars Championship. Primarilly Raed Raffii in the Orange Meezer Class A car and Husam Al-Saleh in the Hala Class B car.

If I see you guys there I'll be sure to say hello. Any of you that work at Donington/Snetterton/Cadwell/Rockingam etc. may recognise me as I am often at these circuits. I am senior instructor with Lotus-on-Track and The Racing School (who operate at Donni & Rock) [Little fella, greying beard]

Anway, just thought i'd say Hi and advise of a bit of British Interest in the V8 races.

Malcolm

Thanks Malcolm,
it would be nice to see you, but not your drivers, if you know what I mean.
Good luck to all the guys/girls going out this week. Have fun and see you all next Tuesday.
Don't forget Passport and money, everything else is optional. Make sure you keep both those things safe while your out there. I'm not in any way casting doubts on our hosts, but you know what happened at this years British GP.
