British GT 2005 Entries
Just seen on www.dailysportscar.com that IN2 racing has plans to enter 2 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR's in next years British GT championship, as well as the LMES and we may well see the team fielding 911's in the Cup class too (2 Cup class cars as the "911's" implies?) Things are starting to shape up for British GT next year. Here is my list of potential entrants, please feel free to make any amendments.
GT2: 2 X Porsche 911 GT3 RSR's ICN Competition 2 X Ferrari 360 GTC Scuderia Ecosse (will the team dump the older 360 for a 2nd 360 GTC?) 1 X Porsche 911 GT3 RSR's Gruppe M Racing 2 X Porsche 911 GT3 RS JWR 1 X Corvette C5 Xero Competition 1 X Corvette C5 Embassy Racing 1 X TVR T400-R Peninsula 1 X Mosler MT900R Balfe Motorsport 1 X Mosler MT900R Rollcentre Racing 2 X TVR T400-R RSR Motorsport 1 X Ultima GTR Master Motorsport 1 X TVR T400-R Eclipse Motorsport 1 X Holden Monaro Emotional Engineering GT3: 2 X Porsche 911 ICN Competiton 1 X Lotus Sport Elise Team Jedi 1 X Corvette C5 Jensen Motorsport 2 X Porsche 911 JWR 1 X Porsche 911 ABG Motorsport 1 X Ferrari 360 DRM Motorsport 1 X Porsche 911 Tech 9 Motorsport 1 X Noble M12GTO3R Rollcentre Racing 1 X Ferrari 360 Damax Motorsport 1 X Marcos Mantis Tiger Motorsport 1 X Lotus Sport Elise Gaving Kershaw Racing 1 X Morgan Areo 8 Team Aero Lewis Racing Please note this is just a speculative list of who I feel may race next season going on whats happened this year, some of the cars may not be there, but there may be a few that we arent expecting too that could be. Either way British GT's should be strong next year. |

I don't think you be seeing Embassy Racing, it said in Motorsport News a few weeks ago that they where going of to do other things, remember the orginal plan was to move into the FIA GT's next year.

A few of the teams up there have already announced other plans/cars for next year, or have not made any form of decission yet.

Martin Short said at Donington during the Britcar race 2 or 3 weeks ago that it highly unlikly that he will be doing the British GT Championship next year with the Mosler, mainly due to the fact that there is a round either side of Le Mans and the Le Mans test weekend. He did how ever say that he would use the car in Britcar.

more on the MG SV - courtesy of MSportUK.
"The much-rumoured and long awaited Project-X team have announced that, with the support of MG Sport & Racing, they will be entering an MG XPower SV in the 2005 British GT Championship. This announcement marks the start of a three-year campaign which will see the SV compete in the British GT Championship Cup Class (GT3) in 2005, climbing to the British GT NGT Class (GT2) in 2006 and the FIA World GT Championship in 2007. Project-X will be taking delivery of a rolling chassis later this week to commence the construction of a GT3 SV. Racing manager Jay Bullock, of Cambridge Motorsport, is working very closely with the designers of the road car and confidence is growing in the abilities of the first motorsport incarnation of the MG SV, which is due to be completed in time for the Autosport International Show at the NEC in January. Project-X is talking with a number of prospective drivers who are able to bring the necessary sponsorship to the project. "We are aiming to confirm the long-term services of Indian racing driver Phiroze Bilimoria in the next few weeks", confirmed Team Manager Paul Keeshaw. Phiroze will be in action in an MG SV at Rockingham Motor Speedway this week, where he is being filmed by BBC2 for the Desi DNA programme, due to be broadcast in March 2005." |

You can add two more cars to that list. Wilcox Motorsport will run 2 cars in British GT next year. 1 in GT2 a Porsche GT3-RS, and 1 in GT3 a 2004 spec. Porsche Supercup car, modified nicely ! Things are coming along now, and there are some pics of the GT2 Machine located on our web site www.wilcoxmotorsport.com under ' photos '. As for drivers ... It's that time of year !! I am speaking to potential drivers for both cars, but I would certainly be interested in hearing from others who wish to mount a SERIOUS challenge on both British GT2 and GT3 titles next year, and they can contact me through the site. It's bl**dy infuriating, but the text posted by MGDavid is the very same copyrighted text that was lifted from dailysportscar ten days or so ago. Once it's been taken, it ends up anywhere and everywhere, despite the issue having been addressed, very firmly, at the time.
No blame to ten-tenths, or necessarily to the poster... it's just doing the rounds. If he who knicked it reads this, it simply drives home the point once more. MC |

Sorry MC ! It was emailed me by a friend who attributed it to MSportUK (whoever they are) and I thought it would be OK to post as long as I acknowledged the source. Mind you, it reads like a press release and if it is now 10 days old is it a problem to repeat it? Apologies once more if so...

Hello,
I *think* they said ages ago that British GT in 2005 at least was GT2 and GT3 only... doesn't anybody at all have an interest in seeing GT1's flying around? Even if it's not in the new 2005 format... If I may be allowed to explain, I used to love going to see British GT championship up until the end of 2002, when I was mortified to discover in Autosport that the top class was disappearing for '03. I visited the first rounds of the championship at Donington in 2004, and I don't know if it's improved majorly throughout the year but I thought it was just a shadow of it's former self, the only joy coming from the likes of TVR, the Ecosse ferrari's and the Morgan Aero 8. Everything else was just poor. The N-GT class in '04 was ok, but the cup class was almost painful to watch. I'm going to go see the championship in '05, afterall it's GT racing, but I can't help but feel awkward about seeing GT2 Ferrari 360s and Porsches battling it out for the lead.... and then coming up to lap a Renault Clio or a Vauxhall.... That just doesn't seem right!! BTW, I can't remember who ran the car, but will we be seeing an Ultima again in '05? It wasn't at Donington when I paid a visit cheers, Martyn |

To answer your question about GT1 machinery in the British series. I think we'd love to, but it comes down to cost, plain and simple. Motorsport isn't cheap at the best of times, but when you have to pay in the region of half a million euros for a new GT1 car (Aston or Maserati, for instance) who's going to pay that for a season in one country? What team in the British series can afford to pay that for a season of domestic GT racing. Especially when they can cut their teeth in GT3 and then GT2 over a number of years before working their way up the GT scale and into LMES, ALMS and FIA GT. Teams like Veloqx, Rollcentre and GruppeM have done just that. As for wathing the championship, you really should have gone to more live events after Donington Park at the start of the season. There were some fantastic races and the Cup Class battle went down to the wire and also provided some first class entertainment. A 'toe in the water' exercise at the opening round of the season is never the best way to look at a championship, follow it for the whole season and watch the drama and excitement. That's how you know if a series is good or not. As for te Ultima, I don't know, but Graham might do!! |

I believe the Master Motorsport Ultima will return in 2005, no doubt lifted by their excellent run in the final round of 2004 at Brands

LNT will race two TVR T400Rs next season (the two orange cars run under the RSR racing banner in 04)
Eclipse are swopping theirs for a Mosler - Don't know yet how the Racesports salisbury season will develop but they want to do all four LMES races |

It's a bit late, but I can't see any mention of a Viper on that list...

Yes mike, many thanks for that. U are of course talking about the car running in Britcar this weekend at Brands, any idea as to who will be entering it, under what banner and who the drivers might be?
