Let's hope they put their backsides into the 430, then...

I think there is more to it these days - Porsche sells racecars, unlike any other manufacturer of road cars out there today. For Ferrari et al., it is a marketing exercise, for Porsche it is a part of their business. Also, even if the F430 turns out to be a competitive car, will Ferrari provide the same kind of customer support that Porsche has been providing for decades?

Seems Prodrive have followed the Porsche model, not only in sportscar racing but with Subaru in rallying.

Prodrive support is provided to all of their leading customers on events around the world.

Probably not, at least not at the same level as Porsche.

Autosport mag reported Maserati will build a Gran Sport GT2 car for Le Mans. The car will be run exclusively by Maserati's own team, I guess that is AF Corse.

That means both Maserati and Ferrari will be fighting Porsche next year.

I have been led to believe that these cars could be purchased for privateers as well next year.

Lets hope the ACO give them an entry then. GT2 could be a bit full next year with all the fast Porsches, Spyker, Panoz, TVRs fighting for entries, now add the new Ferrari and Maserati and someone is going to be dissapointed.

Given Maserati strained past with the ACO some heavyweight groveling will be needed.

Or can we expect the new Maserati to look more like a GT1 car or even a LMP2

Don't think the Ferrari and Maserati will enter LeMans.
And i have serious doubts also, if there is anybody brave enough to enter
the TVR.

The Maserati's being built specifically for ACO events, whether its ready in time is another question.
