Actually I may well be in country. My new job starts in August but I don't ship out until September. However, I've tried to mail Boxridge for a status rep but no joy I'm afraid. With my mobile phone bill at £2 to £300.00 per month I'm not going to phone them from here.

Cheers
Pete

Well unfortunately, that's it!!!

I've decided not to finish the car this year and so Pembrey is off for me.

The good news is that the car is being painted this week and if you go to the historic forum and look at "Gordon Spice Capris" you'll see what its going to look like.

Uprated camshaft and better suspension and brakes should make for a big improvement for next year.

That's a real shame Pete - still looks like this thread might make it through since Pembrey is now the next meeting.
I really hope you do get back out next year. So are you staying in Europe or further afield ?

I'm planning to test on the Friday to try and sort out the 'orrible understeeer that we had at Lydden. Seems we might have gone too soft at the front on the shock settings.

Hey SC - what does it take to get a co-drive in one of these 'ere CT type machines then ???

Meantime - as always - See you on the black stuff

Yeap , diff being put back together this week so barring any last minute disasters we'll be there in CT and the one hour. Infact it could be Rovercity as I think there will be at least 5 other SD1's on parade

you are too kind Mr. H. but I already have a plentiful supply of my own thanks. By the way I got the last piece of Bread Pudding at Lydden - it almost made the journey worthwhile on it's own

As I have entered 2 races at Pembrey next week I have double the amount of tickets so if anybody wants a ticket or two gratis let me know and I'll post them out tonight. They are competitor tickets which give entry both days and I should imagine access to just about everywhere , any tententhers willing to brave the wilds of the Welsh wilderness ?

This should push this topic back to the top...
Looks like I might owe you a pint Mr Mallet
So just a few days to go, seems to be a bit thin with 10/10ths racing bods, any other 10/10thers going to be around ? - is anybody testing on Friday ? Weather forecast looks reasonable at the moment.

We'll be going along Thursday afternoon to get settled in.

Spending the week fitting a larger fuel tank for the 1hr race, a different exhaust with more pre-silencers and installing heat reflectors. Thought I'd finish Monday, but to no avail.

See you there.

Good luck you lot. Hope it all goes well.

I'm off to Kazakhstan next Tuesday so the weekend is being taken up with shopping for essentials (like Worcester Sauce, Spices, Etc.).

BTW. The Capri is all sprayed up and awaiting the engine rebuild. New exhaust headers should get aniother 10-20 BHP and the new suspension should let me go round corners a bit quicker.

Looking forward to next year now.

Stacy, no update from this meeting ??

Although considering the torrid time that you had I wouldn't be too eager to post anything.

Have you managed to get the car fixed ??

Did the petrol tank hold out ??

So what happened teams ??
Saw from Autoport SC and Nick got a 4th in the one hour so I guess the steering held together then. I heard Stacy being summoned on the paddock tannoy at one point, sounds from above you may have had an eventful day. How'd you get on Sean in the Sunbeam. Were your races wet ?, ours was dry after everybody put their wets on !
We ultimatly had a good weekend, but did have to spend all Sat afternoon repairing the car after an incident in qualifying which damaged the side of the car. Still, we finshed 3rd so another 6 points in the championship bag.
Next stop Oulton - see you there I hope. TH

Well done Tony u ought to be chuffed with 3rd !!! My CT race was rather eventful actually , 3rd on the grid but with wets on and a bone dry circuit ! But pole man was a whole 5 secs a lap quicker than 2nd and me - mad eh ! anyway I got a great start into second and then leader spun at first corner , and there I was - out in front but then the red mist descended and I decided to try and hang on to it ! coming out of Dibendi I lost it and went harvesting getting back on in sixth but causing such a distraction that two others went off at the next bend ! Then 3 laps later I lost it again at the same point when the wets finally gave up the ghost and I did a couple of 360's on the grass before finishing on the tarmac facing the wrong way and causing a red flag - I was sooooo embarrassed-they let me restart from the pitlane but there was so much mud and grass in and under the car we overheated and conked out after just one lap - but the funny thing is that one lap counted as a new lap record for my class - a 1.35 no less....only 27 secs slower than my qualifying time.
The one hour race went well in that the car survived and 4th was a bonus !! Well chuffed but shant make Oulton but hope to be at Rockingham.
Stacy what happened to you in the one hour - the subsequent Safety car cost us a podium finish !!

good one Tony!

had a bad qualifying session, excuses range from not enough practice on this circuit, trying too hard too soon etc. so wasnt able to string a decent lap together, then it was red flagged, then were were yellow flags just as it started to come together, 1.3 secs behind pete nixon in golf.

race a bit better; put some good laps in but had a good dice with ed bourn in escort and caught up with kingsley and pete in the golf but couldn't challenge so ended up with second place & fastst lap in class.

Actually I wasn't too disappointed with things. We had a diff problem all weekend which started during the test, but since I don't have a spare we had to plough on.

I raced in the Pre-90's on Saturday and it wasn't too bad. Ended up 2nd overall, and was a good 1s under the previous record so it wasn't exactly dismal. Vibrations were getting worse though, especially later in the race.

Will McAteer drove it in the Group 1 race and pulled in when the vibrations got really bad. It turned out the studs had worked loose, and since we couldn't MIG them in place as there was cast, we had them TIG'd. Problem was the studs couldn't take the heat and gave out in the 1hr race - hence the retirement.

The problem was that the stud installation wasn't done properly - a legacy of the prep firm I used. Only saw the bodge on Friday when we were investigating the vibrations..

The summons was just for using the kerbs, nothing sinister.

Nice weekend really, glad the weather mostly held off. Should be out at Oulton anyway - if I'm not in the RX I'll be in a Lotus Cortina.

Stacy.
