This incident taken in whole is so unique --Webber's chance for a great podium --perhaps even a victory, dashed. Toro Rosso running closer to the front that anyone would've dreamed of. And then ---- "Bang"!!! --- it was over -- Vettel's drive was stellar until then and a great drive by Mark as well -- I really feel bad for Vettel -- what can you say except "Thats racing"

from the footage, i'd say theres a lot to do with hamilton braking like that in the corner entry, although he was very close to the safety car but he braked hard and in the wrong spot. as if making way for the rest to come by, so I can see what vettle said about thinking hamilton having a problem because he was going really slow.

but Vettel should of been concentrating on the car in front (Webber) instead of worring about Hamilton, just inexperience.

Realistically, concentrating on Hamilton isnt flawed. Hes the one darting around, hammering on the brakes and drifting across the track. The mistake was not also paying attention to Webber.

Yes, but he should have been aware of Hamilton, just like driving in heavy traffic you need to lift the eyes and be aware of what’s happening further up the road than the piece you are about to drive over. He should be aware of both cars actions.
Here’s another thought: given the way Hamilton slowed so drastically and veered to the outside of the left-hand corner, I wonder what would have happened if Webber had passed him with the excuse that he thought Hamilton was pulling off with a problem? Apart from Hamilton quickly resuming his position (and jumping on the radio…) |

Sorry if this has been posted, but Webber is blaming Hamilton for the accident.

An Australian blaming a Pom for something? Jeez, there's a shock. Still upset about Jonny, I see...

I thought at the time that Lewis' driving behind the safety car was very marginal safety wise, he was doing some schumacher @ monaco 2004-esque random braking at odd moments.
In fact, I thought at any moment a car was going to rear end him such was the erratic nature of his driving. |

Stewards to look into Hamilton' behaviour behind SC
Stewards want to speak to Lewis Hamilton Following Spectator footage which shows him pulling over and slowing dramatically behind the SC in the lead upto the Webber/Vettel incident.
Here's a link to the story, as well as the video. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/62978 Could Lewis be punished with a Grid penalty if the stewards think he was a contributing factor to the accident? Will this also see Vettel's penalty annulled? |

Having looked at the YouTube video Hamiltons driving does seem a little odd but defendable i.e. he got caught out by the safety car breaking and had to run to the right, was waiting for everybody to sort themselves out rather than chop back to the left and cause an accident.
But can the stewards / FIA resist the temptation to dock him 10 places and try and take the championship down to the final race? I dont think so. |

But....Vettel ran into the back of Webber! Hamilton was on the other side of the track...how can the accident be Hamilton's fault? They were going through the slowest part of the track at that point, cars will always be acellerating and braking at different points and Vettel should have been paying attention!
If Hamilton gets a penalty for this I think I will lose whatever little faith I have left in this sport. |

I doubt he will get penalised, but maybe Vettel should not get his grid drop??
In both re-starts, i thought that Lewis's behaviour was "poor", he did the same sort of thing to Alfonso at the first start. |
