Another Young Marshal Taken From Us Tim Cartilidge

It is with sadness that I am the one to inform you that Tim died in a car accident last Monday. Tim had marshalled at Oulton Park from 1998 in the Paddock for a year, then into the pits he was 26 years old. Tim's sister got in touch with BMMC and asked that we pass on to all that knew Tim that his funeral will be held on Friday 3rd October. If you would like any more information please pm me and I will put you in touch with Tim's sister Holly.

My thoughts go out to Tims family at this sad, sad loss.

What sad news, I don't know the name but I'm sure I would have known his face if he was a pit marshal. Condolences to his family and friends.

Very sad news and a loss to the marshalling world. Tim was a great marshal - I knew him when he was an incident marshal and moving on to Pit Lane. My thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.

That is very sad news.
I worked very briefly with Tim a few years ago on the North Region Newsletter.
Always a happy chappie!

Very sad news. It will be felt at Oulton.

It's never easy especially when it's someone so young.

Unfortunately I had a close friend taken away from us in similar circumstances at a similar age to Tim a number of years ago.

Our prayers are with Tim's family at this time.

Very saddened to hear we have lost Tim - he started with the Oulton Park paddock/assembly team (as a junior, I think), working with Mick Sharp and myself, and was soon a valuable member of the regular crew. Being taller than average for his age(!) he had the respect of the younger members, and his gregarious nature and good sense of humour endeared him to all. Much as we would have liked to keep him in the assembly team, his sights were already on working in the pits, and then on to the bank - on to both of which he graduated with great success. He'll be greatly missed by those who knew him, and the marshalling community - my condolences to his family and friends... MB

I read this in my local paper earlier.

Apart from being a marshal, Tim was a firefighter with the West Midlands Fire Service. It went on how to say how such a good guy was taken from us.

RIP Tim.
