Fox as unbiased as ever
Quite a bit of edge to this as well with McMurray getting dropped by Roush and beating Jr with his ex-team. Bit Truex is a bit gutted as well - so close and then his old ride wins. But it looked like he was congratulating him at the end anyway Wow, great race. Glad Harvick went backwards there after his moves, and a good underdog winner. Despite what the commentators said, he's been around the head of the field for a while and drove a great race |

The least McMurray could do is look like he cares.

Man oh man, the serial killer lookalike had a fantastic run at the end, but credit must go to Reutimann for the push there
Daytona. Brilliant. This is why NASCAR is great First win for #1 since Dover 2007. First win for EGR as an entity - DEI last won at Dover 07, CGR last won at Sonoma 07 |

Ganassi one way or another has figured out how to get the cars into the top spot of the podium or points.
i thought Montoya was going to get it... too bad the track fell apart honestly...how does that happen in the 21st century? |

can't believe i sat at my neighbor's house all afternoon and early evening on Valentine's Day to watch JamieMac win (my wife ain't happy either). Good for him, tho and a good final 20 laps or so. still can't figure out how JR got up there like he did.
pretty awsome finish as we'd expect at Daytona. hope they fix the patch better before the Firecracker 400. |

Well, a thoroughly worthwhile race. It had a nice mix of the 2-wide and 3-wide along with single-file. Some tyre strategy too. Then, of course, with the new GWC rules, well, the inevitable insanity at the end.
As a Truex fan, I am highly satisfied. First run with a new team, and managed to be riding up front the whole race. It could've been better than sixth, but coming away from Daytona with a 6th has to be considered a good day! When his move was announced, I was a bit skeptical if it was the best move since EGR seemed to be getting themselves sorted (which would appear to be remaining true). That said, it was clear something wasn't working with the relationship, so the move was likely the wise move. If the 56 team can keep working as well as they seemingly were this week, well, The Chase just might be attainable: with a crew chief of the callibre of Tryson, well, it would have to be the target. Anyway, a thoroughly good start to the season. Here's to Fontana! |

How strange. Front Row Joe didn't last more than a few laps again.....
Either they have the worst preparation, worst luck in the field, or the team just shows up, takes the start money, then runs away. I wonder how well they'd go if they actually tried to complete a race? |

Interesting to see that Chad Knaus still has no idea how to set a car up for a non-chase track. IIRC quite a few of Johnson's bad results last year were due to tyre wear. I wonder what he would have blamed his punctures on if the hole in the track hadn't been there...

Supersmooth is boring. The old track has character, with its washboard effect and seams that add to racing. It makes it hard. I liked the stoppages, this time, too. However I agree that they'll have too look into correcting this 'farce' for next time. One way, or another, it just makes people mad. |
