Going back to the springs, I still think they have been modified as that is exactly how have seen them done before. Whatever, they fit and do the job! |

yep I am at the touch up paintwork and graphics stage on the IROC then the spit and polish. Extra passengers seat and 6 point belts fitted for the 4th March shake down on the 300 if anyone is brave enough! Dunno who was playing around with my rear shocker settings (probably me) but I now see why I went high speed grass tracking at Thruxton last year.

And that timely reminder is supposed to be encouraging us to sit in the passenger seat?

Iain, Robyn's Escort has a five link arrangement plus the leaf springs. Again, for group 1 you cannot modify the chassis.

Is anyone else on the mailing list for Alain Goupy's french ASAVE Challenge GT ...?
I note that the photos showing seem to show a lot of 911's at the front, and the most prominent other car shown in the front group of the photos they've used is the Escort Mk1. I planned to to (but never did having met the bank at Tower... ) in an ASAVE race at Dijon a couple of years ago, so i never got to a meeting, my TR5 is FIA of course (until 2014 - we won't be renewing!), but i don't recall the regs for ASAVE ... I love the MK1, i think it's great, sorry not to see more of them in the UK, and i'm a little jealous of those of you with such cars as projects - but what regs does ASAVE run to that allows Mk1s to run at the front against 911s, and apparently ahead of Elans? James P.S.The TR has actually left for Oz, will post elsewhere in due course ... |

This Mk1 was in ASAVE race at Dijon in 2008. I'm not sure what their regs are, but it looked pretty close to Gp2 spec, although running treaded tyres. It also had a period engine (bd) so if 2 litres could have had 250bhp + as well. I remember the crew heating engine up with one of those expensive electric devices before starting, and also that engine compartment was very full due to complete dry sump system being crammed in. It had an extra radiator under front to combat that! |

I dont know how the rs2000 throttle linkage was done originally but i did a lot of head scratching when i fitted mine on my downdraught anglia.
I'll try and take some pics of how i worked it all out. |

don't you just use a proprietry Weber linkage kit, the 2 cables and a loud pedal?
or does it have to be like toe Old ford ones, a solid rod linkage, great until you hit a pot hole or get a wobbly engine mount and it disconnects itself |

Can't find a period pic without aircleaner on and that obscures everything! There must be a proprietry linkage available- even if you don't want to buy one maybe the dealer could find a pic or two. A proper race type progressive linkage would be nice.
Quite a few RS2 fanatics have them fitted on their road cars so a forum like rallysportescorts or RS owners club may also be useful. |
