SILVERSTONE CLASSIC MEDIA DAY
The date of 2017 media day doesn't show yet on The Classic website, but it's March 23rd according to the FJHRA. That seems a bit early....

Well, it's been and gone now! I know bauble was there in an official capacity, just curious how well supported it was, being a lot earlier than previous years. Bit early for testing a car when event is 4 months away, despite it being free........

I thought it was a fairly low key sort of a day, not a lot of great interest, the usual suspects with their usual cars. Very windy and the paddock was pretty empty after lunch, most have gone home early. I noticed this as I headed for my car.

I was chatting to a friend who frequents this forum only occasionally, and he was puzzled as to comments about me having lost my shoes.
You really do need to keep up here, or you soon lose the plot. |

A big part of the show is the 500-space car park reserved for classics & there were all sorts in there, various Mustang's, a couple of 50's pick-ups etc. Somebody stole the show by arriving late in a stunning black 1971 Buick Riviera. Looked a bit tasty under the bonnet too; I think the owner is a bit of an engine man as I think he is the same guy who arrived again late a couple of years ago with a replica GT40 which drew a crowd when he opened the engine cover. It said Holman & Moody on it... |

Ah, 60th for Fiat 500. Thought perhaps they were going to use them for VIP movement during the Classic!
Just had a de-brief with my HF1 neighbours. They reckoned quite busy in the morning, then after the lunchtime passenger rides it all went relatively dead...... Their two drivers almost didn't turn up- fog delaying their (heliocopter) departure from home! Cars survived and didn't break, so a sort of success...... Quote:
There's a Classic dragster meeting at the Pod at the end of April, I think. Bet it clashes with Donington..... |

Je ne veux pas passer pour un poseur Robert ou pire un impertinent
but your friend Willie doesn't own a "normal" Fiat 500. Not at all IMHO. It seems it could be an ultra are Steyr Puch, possibly 650 T or even better/rarer 650 TR. Congrats to him for that ! |

Willie's Steyr Puch (Chta Yer Pooorh for pedants!) could be a 500 not a 650 (soft top and not metal top). Could you please ask him Robert?

My grasp of Le Francais is not up to any alternative meaning of 'touch'. Is it fit for a cultured gentilhomme such as my self? Your previous reference to underwear makes me wonder just what sort of Mon Ami I have discovered in the EU. Is it true that the French like to drink in brassieres? La Baub. |

That Steyr does look interesting, although the badge is a bit out of proportion! |
