10TENTHS should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

From what he said in his post-accouncement interview and at Bahrain, he's staying in F1 full-time (he also made a comment about being specialized for F1). He didn't rule out further attempts at the 500 though.

Yeah, I just think his mind could change with a good experience in the Indycar paddock and a good showing at Indy coupled with more misery with the McLaren F1 car.

Any chance he does some laps during practice at Barber? Just for fun or familiarization with the car? See how he likes it? Would be a good treat for the fans there, since he'll be there already.

I doubt it, might embarass him but seriously, he's testing the car at IMS in 2 weeks: http://motorsports.nbcsports.com/201...-may-3-at-ims/

Alonso will be at Barber.

And for those who are slow to read, I will go to the Indianapolis 500!

Zac Brown says he wants to see McLaren at Indy every year. This is mere speculation but could this be a precursor for McLaren to return to IndyCar as a chassis manufacturer?

Another chassis manufacturer competing with Dallara, I think would be good as IndyCar could then finally shake off the spec aspect. Of course this would have to be cost effective for both McLaren and teams alike.

Some interesting comments from Will Power, obviously with regards to today's race at Phoenix but also for IndyCar in general. Maybe this is something that will transpire with the 2018 car?

All forms of motor racing would be greatly improved with the philosophy of more power / less downforce. Giving IndyCars 1300 horses and taking all the wing elements away would be fine with me.

I'm wary about a race in China. Despite hosting an F1 GP since 2004, this hasn't translated into the birth of grass roots motorsport in China. Just watching this year's race and there were noticeably fewer people in the stands.

On the other hand opening up the series in the North West, reviving Portland and having another race in Canada, makes much more sense. The series already has a good nucleus of races and building on this is just what's required, then look to expanding abroad, to countries with an established motor sports fan base, like Mexico and Australia.

The Geely chairman being involved is an interesting tidbit though.

I understand that doing an oval race at Mexico is more interesting than a road/street race.

Puebla is the only large oval, I think. But it has tight, flat corners and long straights. It's not very wide either. It would need a massive rebuild.

According to this, SAFER barriers would need to be installed, and extensive resurfacing may also be required.

Why doesn't Mark Miles go for Hermanos RodrÃ*guez, instead? No work needs to be done, race fans don't have far to travel and Bernie can't object as he no longer runs F1. It would be ideal as a season opener.

And if he gets hooked on IndyCar competition and the warm paddock, adding a Mexican (F1) driver with a desired expansion to Mexico would help.

Davison is from the Lex Davison dynasty isn't he? He could help Indycar back to Australia. I'd like to see more of him personally. Although realistically Gutierrez will probably get the seat.
