PWC CoTA entry list.

There are actually two separate entry lists, one for the SprintX Round 4 make-up race on Friday, and then one for the Saturday and Sunday races!

Looks like a pretty good entry for all races, though I doubt some of the cars on the Mosport make-up race will actually be there. The Sat/Sun races look really solid.
Good to see GTS pick up a few extra entries, especially the Lotus.

Here are the other links for COTA, might as well discuss the race here.

Super excited to see the SDR Lotus back in GTS for their home race!
That is one stunning little race car.

I don't think the R. Ferri Ferrari, the Scuderia Corsa Ferrari or the #78 Bentley will be running either, since none of them are on the regular race list.

Weather may be a factor, too. Looks like Austin might be getting a lot of rain next week on top of the effects of the hurricane. Hopefully everyone stays safe.

It's definitely a good thing that the event isn't this weekend that's for sure!

PWC using the event to try to bring in more support for the Houston area: http://www.racer.com/indycar/item/14...-harvey-damage

Quote:
The Pirelli World Challenge series, along with a number of support series, are scheduled to race this weekend at Circuit of The Americas in Austin, which is just outside the hurricane's immediate path. PWC CEO Greg Gill, who lives in Texas, says the race will go on as planned, and the series is encouraging fans to help the Red Cross.
"We were very concerned for everyone that lives here and all the first responders," he said. "Right now, things are nice in this area and our trucks are moving into the track, but we're mindful of how to use the event in ways that can help others in the state. We're doing donations for the Red Cross on our website, so we'd encourage providing support in any way possible."
Gill later released a statement detailing how the series will contribute to Harvey relief efforts:
"We have watched the weather situation closely throughout the state of Texas and particularly the Austin area. After this past weekend, the Austin area did receive significant rain but nothing like the Houston, Rockport and Corpus Christi areas.
"Working with the track officials and looking at the long-range weather forecast, WC Vision and COTA decided to precede with the weekend schedule of the Pirelli World Challenge Grand Prix of Texas. The track officials have assured us that the facility is in proper shape from the rain and the PWC weekend will operate as planned.
"While we know the extreme difficulty going on in Houston and other areas, we have hundreds of personnel from racing teams, race officials, sponsors, media as well as spectators on their way to COTA for an exciting weekend of competition.
"WC Vision has announced its participation in two Red Cross charity efforts to assist the Hurricane Harvey victims. A GOFUNDME link has been established at the www.world-challenge.com website as well as on the Pirelli World Challenge social media outlets at @WCRacing on twitter and Pirelli World Challenge Championships on Facebook. We ask that people donate any amount of funding to assist the victims.”

Interesting to note that the make up race is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM on Friday. Best as I can tell, sunset on Friday is officially around 7:53 PM, so most of the race will be in lower light conditions.

Wow, that's going to be either REALLY awesome or REALLY messy.
Probably a bit of both.

I was wondering about the cars with driver lineup changes. Going to be a bit of a job for Sellers/Lewis and Sofronas/Jaminet.

Start time of the make up race has been changed:

Good race tonight. I really enjoyed the race finishing around dusk. A shame they didn't stick to the original start time, we would've had a properly dark end to the race. PWC really should explore adding at least one night race next season. Perhaps SRO/PWC could hold a 12 hour event at Sebring after the conclusion of the WEC race next year.

Agreed, that race was absolutely fantastic. James Sofronas got it right, PWC needs more of this. Imagine a day-to-night sprint at Road America...
Great win by Bergmeister & Long in the Wright Porsche, and a great charge to the podium by Morad & Dalziel in the CRP Mercedes.
Also, how about the KPAX guys getting the radiator on the #9 fixed quick enough for Parente to complete half the race, and thereby score points? That was awesome stuff.

Mega GTS race. Awesome drive by Scott Dollahite to take the win, and a nice run by Parker Chase to finish third all the way from the back of the field. Good solid races from Ian James and Rodrigo Baptista as well.

Interesting Sprint-X race. Some really good racing with a really sloppy broadcast and a few questionable officiating calls.

Strong run for Gainsco, Wolf Henzler's stint was fantastic.
Some really good pace from both #58 Wright Bergmeister/Long Porsche and the #2 CRP Mercedes w/ Dalziel/Morad. Impressive recovery from both cars after the afore-mentioned questionable calls. Last lap, last corner pass by Dalziel on Taylor in the #8 was brilliant, GT3-at-it's-best stuff. Tough late race sprint for the #8 Cadillac, lost positions to Henzler, Barnicoat and Dalziel in the final lap.

Impressive win by the #31, not a wheel put wrong the entire race.

Awesome GTS Race 2, the battle between Baptista, Chase and Gottsacker was fantastic. Tough race for Panoz, so Aschenbach takes the driver's championship.
