el_cat should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Markelov and Makino confirmed at Russian Time.

You’d think that Markelov would have tried his hand at F1 by now - he’s not even done a test yet, has he, let alone a practice session. He’s obviously got the money behind him, now he has the superlicense points as well so not much more to achieve in F2. If he wins now, he falls into the Palmer/Leimer bracket of winning largely on the strength of being the most experienced man in the field. Anything less than the title and he’s at best stagnated.

Makino is an interesting one - went well in testing but it’s a big step up from a handful of half-decent outings in F3

Seems like Arjun Maini is confirmed in the second Trident alongside Ferrucci ,trident looking like to become Haas Junior Team.

Would not be surprised to see Alex Albon confirmed in the second Dams and my personal guess is Celis Jnr will be in the second Campos

Not seen anything confirming Ferrucci and Maini at Trident, although it seems likely.

Likewise Albon at DAMS, but who is in the first seat?

Can see Ferrucci starting the year, not so sure I can see him not throwing the toys out of the prom and lasting the whole year when he’s a back marker as usual.

Max Gunther takes the second drive at Arden - should certainly be a contender for some reverse grid wins if not more.

And Latifi confirmed at DAMS today too (although not exactly a big news story)

Just Trident and MP left to announce any drivers, and second seats at Campos and DAMS to be filled

As I have been saying, FIA F2 should only allow drivers with at least one season of experience in GP3 or similar.

As above, Albon and Latifi at DAMS, Maini and Ferrucci at Trident.

Just MP and Campos second to go.

Alex K has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
De Jong at MP is worrying. Unless they have drivers signed up and he does initial shake down, which would be strange. Could it be MP struggling to attract drivers?

I know he is involved, but it looks like they still browse the market for signings.

There doesn’t seem to be any drivers who scream out as being a natural fit for MP really. I think Boschung tested with them over the winter, but everyone else who did has been fixed up elsewhere.

Perhaps the real left-field arrivals in F2 will be at MP. Someone who you wouldn’t really expect to be stepping up, like Boschung last year and Makino this

Or they sign a quick experienced guy as a baseline such as Merhi.

Shame we won't see Rowland back again but at least he's got himself a deal in LMP2? I fear he's lost to top line single seaters for good now.

That's good, at least he'll keep himself visible in Europe.

No. Jumping from 200 to 600 hp is too big a gap.

Trident confirmed officially what was known since October. Now just waiting for Latifi's official confirmation at DAMS.... anyone know what's up with Albon?

The grid seems to be shaping up to be quite evenly matched this year. Maini will be on paper one of the least “qualified” drivers, yet he’s no slouch.

Not convinced there is a clear favourite yet either - de Vries, Markelov, Ghiotto and Latifi will all likely be there or thereabouts, but all have flaws and the tendency to go missing. Couple that with a strong rookie contingent and it should make for some good racing

That Trident line up is underwhelming to say the least.
