The problem is, the top 10 drivers are all capable of lapping within a few tenths of each other. They know that one botched over-taking attempt will leave them easy prey for the guy behind, so they all sit there waiting for a mistake.Carroll looked racey at Silverstone,Combe and Oulton but still didn't actually overtake anyone.

VD Merwe is really doing a good job this year - surprised me that he is keeping it up. Ahem. He seems very tough mentally. Reckon the title is in the bag now... To really get noticed by the boys above he has to win or be on the podium at Macau. That is like the Festival of F3, win that and you are sorted. And Carlin won it last year with Sato so they should be strong there. Hope he does it.

F3 on the oval would be interesting. We would see which teams have the most power as they would be flat all the way round I reckon. Slipstreaming?!

Yeh I understand overtaking is hard but most drivers this year don't even try. I agree Carroll didn't actually overtake anyone but at least he offered entertainment by trying. The rest who just cruise around in single file waiting for the chequered flag to come out are the ones that annoy me.

With VDM now long gone these drivers need to start taking risks if they are to have any chance of even remotely catching him. All agreed VDM has done excellent but to be fair how many drivers returned of a championship winning quality from previous seasons? If Adam Carroll had been with Menu from the start he'd have challenged but most of the grid is full of rookies. I'm sure if VDM was to race next year and Piquet, Green etc returned for a second year he wouldn't have it so easy.

Yep, VD Merwe has been pounding the British tracks since 98.
6 years of knowledge of british tracks against Piquets 0.

Alan made his racing debut in 1999 with FGR, NOT 1998.

1999 FFord class B with FGR

2000 & 2001 FFord with Haywood Racing

2002 & 2003 F3 with Carlin

Actually a shorter career than many of his competitors and Alan didn't start karting until he was 16. For the first 2 years of racing in cars he was commuting from the Netherlands as he was working full time as a network engineer for a major IT company.

If he wins this seasons F3 championship it will be a very well deserved sucess for a popular driver.

VDM seems to have the cash to buy the best drive and then wins in the second year, Haywood, Carlin.

Not sure anybody is really excited about him for the future though. Sportscars long-term?

The Fire Truck was a fair distance behind the field and tried to hug the pit wall side... then made contact with Piquet's right rear.

I'll say "racing incident" until I see more video footage.

The way the Fire Truck bounced I'm glad it didn't do more damage to Piquet or his car.
The whole thing happend in by me there was only the starter who go the view better as it was right in front of them.
It was a pure racing accident, Piquet turned in front of the fire truck and there was nothing they could do to avoid it. What nobody has mentioned was Piquet was one of the last out of the garage and when it came to getting to grip went up the dirty side leaving his tyres in a complete mess causing more work for his team. No doubt that was on his mind, as he did not do it a second time. As for the f3 on 4 will be good to see it, as for second race the marshalls were not and still not impressed in the piece to camara.
