Because the factory teams in BTCC aren't really factory teams and even if they were, the NGTC-rules pretty much negate any major advantage through the use of numerous spec parts.

Wow, I didn't see that one coming! It'll be interesting to see how he'll perform, both Honda vs. Lada wise and against Monteiro and Michelisz. If this is true I think the pressure will be on Monteiro next year.

But I'm very dissapointed that Honda becomes stronger with the expense of Lada. What's happening with their project I wonder? 2 cars, as written on many Russian web-sites? Then I believe we can say goodbye to MAC3 with only Citroen and Honda competing |

what do you mean? for example how is Team Dynamics HONDA BTCC team any less of a factory Honda team than JAS HONDA WTCC team?? both funded by Honda. one nationally one internationally. but both works Honda teams!

Dynamics are nowhere near a proper pukka factory effort the likes of which we had back in the 1990s. Sure, Honda pays them, but they pay them just enough to get a handle on the privateers. Things would look drastically different if they were in an all-out arms race against another manufacturer program.
And no, MG doesn't count - if drivers have to bring money to race there, it's not a proper factory effort. |

Lada will struggle badly without huff. they needed his experience to develop the car.

So I guess that's a full-on factory Volvo then? And look, KIA had a works team - in Belgium of all places - as well: |

so according to you to be a full on factory effort it has to be run by the manufacturer? Honda can't just pay a team to design and develop and race their cars for them?

No, that would be silly, after all many (most?!) of the ST teams in the 1990s were run by specialist outfits as well... I just don't get the feeling that the BTCC-effort is a very serious thing for Honda - call it a factory program 'lite', if you want to. (Which is of course perfectly okay, but it also explains why non-manufacturer supported teams can give them a run for their money... )

I'm with Speed-King on this one. TD isn't a factory team like JAS is in WTCC. It's more a Dealer Team, a national importer team like the Belgian examples mentioned.

just because a team gets its money nationally instead of internationally from the same manufacturer doesn't mean it's not a factory effort. JAS do exactly the same as TD do. they run a touring car program for Honda just with a bigger budget. and a lot less success! maybe what Honda need is for TD to run their WTCC program. |

This is quite off topic but my 2 cents are:
I would agree that they are a importer team but also a works team, they get their funding from Honda UK marketing department. Just because the budget that they get is probably no were near what the budgets were like back in the ST era, doesn't make them any less of a works team. Honda UK also pay the entry fee which technically makes them a works team - MG included even though they maybe dont offer much if any financial support. Anybody have any idea what support MG actually offer 888? Last edited by markf8691; 24 Dec 2015 at 00:00. |

Rumours are the should Rob Huff sign for Honda, his seat could be taken by Nestor Girolami. It is said that he can combine WTCC with Stock Car Brasil. Let's wait and see.

Lada should hire one of the fast indies, for example. (Again, Valente). Hey, and Tarquini is free now |

Several new pictures of the Volvo on the Cyan Racing Facebook page. While it's definitely the best looking TC1 car so far, they really should lower the ride height on those things. Like the Citroën and the Chevy it looks like a 4x4...
