You're pretty fit though I bet Iain, will probably pass with flying colours. I work on computers 7 days a week and the only reason I'm not overweight is because my metabolism hasn't slowed down yet. |

Iain, as this is the lighter side, can you please explain why, even when you are quoting him directly, you always call Terence, 'Terrance' or am I missing something here?

Bit of a "lighter side story" for you. Andy Robinson European Dragster Champion fame came to the workshop on Saturday. Phone rings and he has managed to put his AMG Mercedes down a pot hole and blown both the nearside tyres. We rescued with much mickey taking then i noticed the tax on his car had expired as well ,more mickey taking.
This morning i collected the local Doctors car for some very minor jobs. Guess what down the same pot hole and a bill for "120.00 for a new tyre. Life's just not fair sometimes. |

If that is a public road Iain it sounds like you have a right, actually probably a duty, to claim off the council. It sounds harsh but unless someone does make an issue of things like this I suspect that most of the councils will try to out the work off for as long as possible thus making the repair effort that much greater.
Road surfaces around here are crumbliing all over the place though I have not yet come across many major potholes. But then I've not been doing the miles either .... Lots of road surface gravel being thrown up though so a good chance that a windscreen repair or major stone chips will result. And there are enough small potholes around to cause cumulative suspension issues I suspect - them and the speed humps. 4 x 4s are starting to look like sensible choices to survive the surface of most roads. |

Not so lighter side, my road car failed its MOT yesterday - the guy came and sat down next to me with three whole pages full of failures, so I'll be putting the car in the bin and buying another.

I had a lovely condition (I thought) Range Rover tow car a while back I bought of a mates widow and he cherished it. First MoT no problem, a year and about 2000 miles later at the same garage (they know me I do work for them and have known the boss for nearly 50 years) they failed it on being riddled with corrosion in the section between the main chassis and the body. I was gobsmacked and said i just coundnt understand how it could become condemed in such a short time and with so low a milage since the last test! Anyhow I have another nice Range Rover here PT for spares or repair ad scheduled to go on Fleabay Sunday, needs a bit of welding and getting at but not too bad :-)

Iain, just home! Your book is here safe and sound, thanks. Will start reading over w/end!
