This car is loosely based around Perkins chassis #25 written off by Gary Quartly at Phillip Island many moons ago when owned by Neil Schembri. Mork got the chassis and slowly rebuilt it but I suspect not a lot of the original chassis remains. Which explains the Jericho box and the revised cage, all of which is reflected in the asking price.

Pete60 - very diplomatic - I agree that the asking price reflects the car's providence (or lack thereof). Has this been rebuilt or is it a re-shell? Could it be raced historically as a V8 Supercar or is it's 're-birth' post the applicable time frame.

The bit I don't understand is that Mork owned it, it was sold and the new owner had the HRT paint scheme applied, sold again(?) and then back to Mork? - or did it go straight back to Morky? Any clues?

What's the history of the Clift car at Morgan Park on the weekend? I don't remember it.

Car was bought from Morky had a bucket load of money spent on it then painted in HRT colours. The owner gave up spending money on it as it was turning into a bottomless money pit and sold car back to Morky

The Clift car ran the local (QLD) rounds 85/86, a locally buit car abit like the Smerdon (Lester, not Chris) "Highway Patrol" car. Can't recall if there were any MHDT bits in it,or if it started life as a Gp C car (the smerdon car did FYI) but it in the photo it looks like '86 spec. In '85 it definitely ran the 5L/4 speed combo.

A one owner car (!), in the '90's it ran sporadically in Sports Sedans...

Wayne Clift ordered a Holden motorsport shell in 1986 and built the car himself. It has never been owned by anyone else! When Group A fell over Wayne raced the car occasionally in Qld Sport Sedan events, but still in Group A spec.

The Xerox shop Starion was sold last week and will return to the track shortly. The Dulux Alfa is still for sale. I'm not aware of any Corollas presently on the market. There's an Asian E30 M3 in bits for $110K and a Brock E30 M3 for $276K. IMO, the best buy of all is the Peter Jackson DR30 for $145K. Hmmm, do i really need two kidneys?

Camaroz,

So did the second Phil Lyon car ever race or was it a spare (unraced) shell as spelled out in the Ebay ad?

I saw it advertised a couple of years ago as being reshelled. The main problem was most of the parts used were fairly tired

Spare un-raced.

A bit more on the VH Race Shells.

According to Auto Action, No. 283, Friday Jan 1 1982....

13 shells were ordered, to be produced.

MHDT had orders (options) for four, MHDT already had one (?).
Benson-Brown x one.
Peter Janson x one.
Neil Cunningham x one.
Roadways x two.
Warren Cullen x two.
ReCar x one plus an option on another.

= 13! Where did 16 come from?

Phil Lyon got two of the MHDT option cars, apparently PB organised the deal.

As the MHDT would have been left with two, that would mean chassis' four (82 Bathurst) and five (83 Bathurst) were used.
Janson built a new VH for 84.
Benson-Brown, used in rebuild end 82.
Phil Lyon built one, itp car (Gary Collins) and the second is on ebay now as a road car.
ReCar built two new cars, the second being the 100mph car.
Roadways built at least one (Elvis?)
Neil Cunningham sold his car to Bernie Stack, not known if he ever took delivery of his VH.
Cullen?
Any more clues?

Roadways built chassis #4 in 82 which ended up being 'Elvis'
there second shell was chassis #16 which I think was built into an STP car for 83

The 100mph Re-car chassis was not one of the VH race shells (its log book was issued 21/4/82 before the VH Race shells were released and has a standard car chassis #), the car raced before that became the 2nd car for the rest of 82

And the Dulux Alfa raced in both Group A and C, so if you buy it you've got options
