Firstly.......
I apologise if my thoughts on the free Probans has caused offence. It wasn't meant to, but perhaps my writing "Skills" make it sound that way.

Also, FWIW, I didn't bother to sign up for any as my current pair of overalls are relatively new!

Having had two very disappointing Britcar expericences at Oulton Park, I couldn't see a valid reason for wanting to marshal them for 24hrs. However, following many, many postivie comments from Marshals on here and the ones I work with on a regular basis, I gave into persuasion and signed up for this year!

One of the original emails I got from a fellow marshal to whet my appetite for this event went along the lines of ....."Lunch provided plus food vouchers and a free pair of Britcar Overalls which the organisers would like to you wear on the Sunday"

So again, I'm sorry if it appears that I'm stirring things - that really isn't my intension.
The risk of causing embarrassment to the Britcar organisers is now playing on my mind. Therefore it's probably right that I don't attend this event.

Shalagh! You can have my pie!!

Sorry your not going to be there Mark. I haven't bothered with the overalls, as I only wear mine for the GP.

Mark,

Let's face it - we all end up inadvertently "upsetting the applecart" from time to time on this forum, and apologies if my responses have "upset" you or anybody else.

Don't let that stop you coming along and joining in the fun. It is definitely an experience that has to be "experienced".

And wouldn't it be embarrassing if I "lost" myself while trying to deliver your pie!

Tickets and window sticker/car pass were waiting for me tonight when I got in from work

Does anyone know what the score is regarding sunday evening/night after the race has finished? Is the campsite still available sunday night into monday morning, or do we have to clear off before the end of sunday?

EDIT:
Just found this link on the brittcar site..
http://www.britcar24hr.co.uk/cms/news.php?item.685.1

Sounds like we have to be gone, or is that just the spectators camping?

Reading that article it would appear to be for the paying public, they are being charged to camp aswell as get in. Anyway I will be staying till Monday morning, as I dont fancy packing up and driving after the weekends marshaling

Thursday Night at the 24 Hours

For those arrving early don't forget the Marshal's clubnight at the White Horse in Silverstone village at 2000. James Tucker and some of the drivers and teams will be there to entertain us. Steaks are on offer so get there early for a good meal as well as a good nights entertainment

Cool, I was hoping that was the case, and likewise didn't really fancy driving home soon afterwards .
I've got the monday off work so can relax and enjoy the wind down with everyone who's stopping over on sunday night.

Just like C8/C9, I've got to leave on the Sunday as I've got to be in work at 7am Monday!Still wouldn't miss this meeting though.

All I've got to do now is find someone travelling up from Norfolk to pick my marshalling son up on the Friday and take him home again on the Sunday. Beer or petrol money given to the driver.

I'll go home on Sunday but I have Monday off, made the mistake of working last year, dont know how I did it

As for things to bring:
-torch (head torch preferably so you keep yout hands free)

-snacks! looks like we're getting a fair bit of food this year with the vouchers, pies and lunches, but you might sleep through it and you'll need more for energy, we shared a nice bar of Dairy Milk at about 3am last year

-layers!! It gets verrrrrry cold overnight, especially if (sorry, when) it gets foggy

-ear plugs are a good idea like mattt said, its very noisy if you're trying to sleep and I actually wore mine for a lot of the race last year, once I got tired and my head got a bit sensitive they were a godsend

-a nice comfy chair!

-your sense of humour, most importantly! you'll need it to keep yourself and your fellow marshals going

There must be a lot more, I'm actually writing a list of things I need to bring at the moment too!
