Would say so, just like they do on a Supercar to make them all the same dimensions. I think the Holden gets a bigger haircut than the Ford?

I can see why the top and bottom ones are required (to make the car shorter) . . . . but why the rear one by the wheel arch?

what's with lifting off the gas to change up gears?
I would have thought it would have flat shift. |

Their Facebook page says they are getting low 58's at Puke, with more still to come from flat shift and bigger Brembo brakes. So I guess that means it's not operational yet but will be soon.

The statement about bigger brakes might be true around a track like Hampton or Manfeild where they get a good workout. |

The car will only slow down as quickly as the level of longitudinal grip of the tyre allows. Unless a brake package is either seriously under sized or poorly designed/implemented you are not going to see any improvement in lap time around a track like Pukekohe doing short stints in fresh air. Don't forget that larger brakes add to the un-sprung weight of the car increase the rotating mass. I agree about the durability of of larger brakes in a true race situation over many laps. |

odd.. no press releases from Ford NZ confirming this big news? will Ford NZ throw the ST boys some $$$$'s or just allow them to buy badges and body panels from them?

Summerfield said this was actually being press released tomorrow but they were jumping the gun and announcing it today (by arrangement I'm sure). Something about Ford supplying all the factory parts for the cars (100 and something parts per car?), got the impression this was FoC. Will keep an eye out for the details tomorrow I guess but sounds like Ford are in which will answer a few doubters questions

At Pukekohe you would expect to see an improvement mainly at the hairpin as it's the only real hard-on-the-anchors corner. You should still be able to get on the brakes later though and that should give you a few tenths I would have thought. But who knows what is currently fitted to the car? Maybe it is under-sized, otherwise why would they upgrade other than longevity through the enduro rounds? |
