Good to see yourself Roverboy and a few more qlders making the trip down to Oran Park for the round again. One noticeable absentee is Tamasi?? The other regulars missing is Trent Young, Jeff Barnes and Phil Crompton. High quality field, hopefully we could see 20+ cars by the 2nd or 3rd round...

I wondered why Tamasi wasn't on the list, he had a good season last year.
More NSW cars would be good but there aren't really many national level
cars in NSW anymore, they've all either been parked or sold off interstate.

Anway it should be a good meeting.

Thanks Roverboy
Jag's out in force! Roddy's Jag was down at Phillip Island Magic and did some demo laps at Sandown Historics and what a sound...not your average Sports Sedan sound! Looks like a couple of new National competitors such as Dave McGinniss, I take it he is the Tasmanian Purple calibra? I hope someone can post some pictures from the weekend if you can get there. Good to see Jameson back as well but last year he only ran Oran Park I think so I hope he continues on in the championship in '07.

I see the final round for 2007 is at Sandown Raceway, for anyone interested in running prior to then the only state round there Sports Sedan's can run is May 12-13 as the other time the series goes there Sports Sedan's run the meeting and so don't run a category for them...just for anyone interested

Anybody thought how the Sports Sedans would go as a possible replacement for the V8 Supercars?

Oh dear, now that so funny. We always wondered whether that might come up. I heard that the Historic Register is considering Sports Sedan as a catergory. How about that, Sports Sedan replaces Supercars AND joins Historics! Now that would burst a valve at CAMS eh?

Well realistically i cant see it happen, especially if it is joining the Historics. If its true however the V8 costs are still spiralling out of control, and somehow the SS can remain so open in their rules without clear exploitation by some competitiors (probably because of its status being closer to club level than the V8's) maybe theres something there that can be adopted. Theres clearly a wide spread of cars and manufacturers competing in SS, and the V8's have drawn their share of criticism for being so closed in that respect.

Was out at Oran Park today to see the Sports Sedans run. Jag looked and sounded awesome except for that brief stay in the sand trap.

Unlucky for Des Wall aswell, who knocked out the right front after a heavy altercation with the final turn wall.

Should be some good racing tomorrow

Any pics D.R.T.? Any damage to the Jag? Which Jag was in the sandtrap?
A few cars didn't show. Anyone know why?

Hi Bullett, I was out there today but missed race 1 so did not see the Reddy Jaguar. Apparently Mike's son was racing it and had an accident in it. There was a lot of mechanical failures in the two races. I think we will have to wait for Roverboy to get back in front of a computer to give us a summary of what went on.

A truck did its best to go through the wall on the final turn. Bob Middleton I think his name was. He was okay but made one hell of a hole.

- The Roddy Jag hit the wall in race one and suffered some heavy damage to the front, hopefully they can get it all fixed up for the next round. And I never thought I'd say this but a Jaguar can sound good!

- Dean Randle pushed Tony Riciadello hard in all three races, in the last race he came pretty close but just couldn't get past the Alfa which as always was on the money.

- Kerry Baily looked to be having some mechanical dramas and was in and out of the pits in all three races

- Graham Smith's Ford/ Mazda V6 twin turbo Calibra was going strong, got up to third in race one but was pinged for a jumped start. He got pinged again for a jumped start in race 2 and didn't start race 3 because of a misfire that developed in race 2.

- Chris Jackson had a pretty good meeting mixing it with the national runners, but he pulled off in the last race with smoke trailing from the back of his Calibra.

- The Jameson Jaguar recovered from earlier problems to get a good 4th position in the last race.

- Stephen Voight's 300zx had a spin coming off the bridge in race one when he and Graham Smith had a slight touch, he ended up getting third on the day.

- Tamasi wasn't running at the meeting as apparently he had a new engine package that wasn't quite ready or something along those lines not 100% sure on the exact details

That's all I can remember for now!

I gotta say that Jag sounded awesome.... comgin out of T2 andunder the Yokohama Bridge, it turned from a ballsy deep growl into a high revving banshee wail..... was simply fantastic. The damage looked fairly bad in the front end, hopefully looked worse than it was.

A real shame for the jump start ping on Graham too, that car is going to be a real weapon once the niggly probs are sorted.

Pics to come, got to sort them out first.

Graham Smiths Calibra is spectaular to watch coming on to the straight. The boost comes on hard in that car and launches it sideways every lap, sounds great too.

ASSA, Is Bryan Thomson going to have the Camaro out for Round 2???

I think the responsiveness of the turbo system on his engine might be a reason why it appears that he jumps the start, when in fact he just has that much more mid range power he just blasts past all the Chevs off the rolling start! Once they get on top of a few bugs it should be even better, they are going to develop the suspension a bit more too.

I am not sure what is going on with that car, although I have heard some rumblings about it having an alloy block or something along those lines

Thanks for the pics everyone and for keeping us up to date! Anyone know the damage to the Jag XJS after hitting the wall?
What happened to the likes of Munday?
Does anyone know why Macready's Rover is Left Hand Drive?
Good to see some really good paint jobs as well like Mark Nelsons Saab, really lifts the presentation of the series. Roll on Queensland!

Whilst the damage to the Roddy Jag was bad it was mostly components – nose cone, suspension arms, brakes etc the chassis appeared to have remained straight. My crew help to load it into their truck, they are hopeful of being ready for Queensland.

Macready’s Rover was built by Steve Vigus and probably left hand drive because of the mostly left hand corners at Oran Park and Eastern Creek.

Hopefully plenty of southern cars head north for the next round.
