Here's Mike Chittenden's Morris 1000, I saw him race with the 950 Formula Junior engine and then 1650 ford.My dream car at the time, looked so different to all the others and went so well gave the anglia's a hard time.

Great photo again racing fxgt!
I remember that blue Moggy Minor so well. It certainly was quick, especially around Mike's home track Brands. Used to see it at Snett a lot too. Have you any more S/saloon pics from the late 60S? Albert Betts Jag / Pat Mannion Anglia / David Alexander Mini / Gerry Marshall Viva / Martin Birrane Fairlane / Brian Bolton V8 Cortina / Geoff Wood Mini / Ken Dawes Anglia ??? |

Good memories of club saloon and libre racers!
A few more that left an impression on me when I was very young were Phil de Banks in an Anglia and, in Libre races, the Cooper Chevvy of Alan Eccles and the Lotus Chevvy of the late Chris Summers. Fearsome machinery! |

Pat Mannion was a non-starter for the race because it said of "trouble in practice" This is the beginning of what they were referring to

Great photos again! Have not seen those before. Look at the concentration on Gerry's face!
Chris Summers' Lotus 24 Chevy - that was a fearsome car. A fore runner to the Kincraft really. Any more? |

Max Reinhard drove it at the Brands F5000 race on 12 Sep 1971. He qualified last but one (ahead of Sanger's woeful Harrier but nearly 20% slower than pole) and finished 5 laps down in 12th - again ahead of Sanger. Allen |

An easy mistake to make Allen - afterall, it was 31 years ago!!
Terry Sanger - he always drove big brutal cars like the big V8 engined Cortina in '67 later driven by Brian Bolton and Mustangs etc. in the ' Wiggins Teape Paperchase' remember that? The commercial name for the British RAC Saloon car Championship in the early 70s. I recall he also had a Lola T70. |

Fantastic - thanks Fred!
Its either Doc Merfield or Brian Bolton in the V8 Cortina. the startline shot at Snett - I always used to sit in the stand there as a kid. Note the telephone box is still there at Snett but stand unfortunately gone. Do you have anymore - Stan Matthews in Anglia 1968/69 by any chance? |

No Fred, I think that is the Nomad Mk2 built by Mark Konig
in 1969. It was fitted with a 2 litre BRM V8. Konig and Tony Lanfranchi shared the car in long distance events. Your photo is Snetterton again with what appears to be a Chevron B16 following. Could be 1970. |
