#10 Maserati moving slow, small fire in the back of the car with smoke coming from the engine. the car is most likely done for the race.

Sorry, can't cry for the Mazzas (as long as there's no damage for the pilots). Virenque now 16th overall... |

Yep, and Mike Rockefeller says that they're here for the victory, they'll gonna push...

Can someone give a little summery of the race for us that have just got up? Watched E/S coverage and they did'nt explain the top 5 in either GT1 or 2.
Am courious as to where the Astons are? |

Woke up to find the Astons well down - really disappointing after I learned that one had got within 10 secs of the lead during the night only to have a coming together with Vanina Ickx (her Porsche, I mean!!) and losing 20 mins in the pits.
The Masers seem to be both fast AND reliable - the only chink appearing this morning with a transmission fire in the no10 car. Eurosport were saying that the no.66 Porsche might be disqualified by entering the pitlane at the wrong place, after a throttle cable breakage! |

I am not going to write Aston or Corvette off yet. Both the 550's in 3rd & 4th look good as well. A 11+ lap lead will be hard to overcome but there is a long time to go yet.
The 66 car missing the pit entry was strange, I hope it does not lead to exclusion. |

We all want the Astons to do well (well the Brits at Least) but unfortunately 19 laps down seems a rather long way now - but we can hope
I wish the timing screens on MST would stay up todate - I think someone keeps falling asleep! |

Yes, and as they are 6th and 7th, I'm depressed again! Apart from the collision mentioned above they have incurred brake balance problems (foreign matter getting into the brake balance gear wheel), which according to Dave Richards, has not manifested itself either in testing, 12 hours of Sebring, 6 hours of Silverstone and 24 hours of Le Mans. As he says it's still a development year.
The Porsche No 66 pit entry was legal. Apparently, a rule change this year allows the cars to enter directly into the pitlane rather than from the Bus Stop. |
