In better Porsche news... CORE Autosport expands to two cars next year in GTLM, both cars being 2014-spec 991s in GTLM, and CORE running the cars as a Porsche-appointed FACTORY TEAM. http://www.endurance-info.com/versio...cus-20799.html

Wow ..... Never saw that coming , always wondered what was the reason Core entered this year with a 911 ..... just thought it was an odd move .

Wonder how Falken and Lizards feel about this ?

Will we see Kimber-Smith in this line up ?

According to Falken, this doesn't affect their efforts.

As far as Lizards, I believe they weren't even interested, as Seth is happy spending his money in Pro-Am classes now. Even so, who would you rather Porsche picked, a two car all pro CORE, or a one car pro Lizards, with a second Pro-Am car that would never be competitive?

I'm with you a 100% there, Core has to be Porsche's best option for two pro loaded cars next season. Especially since they can get two pro cars running in a 24 hour then 12 hour tough event before returning to LM to test any upgrades, and possibly LM spec aero with the high speeds on the banking at Daytona.

Falken haven't exactly set the world alight this year but would be great to see them get a 991 too.

I'm not to worried about falken since porshe factory cars are always on michelins and figured the would be a tire conflict here keeping it from happening.i figured flying lizard wasn't interested when they decided to move to gtc.

Podiums at Sebring and Laguna.
Car to beat at Long Beach, until bad luck took them out of it.
Led early on at Road America.
As for Baltimore, that was no fault of theirs.

Not bad, considering that Porsche is no longer developing the 997, and considering that Falken is up against the best factory teams in the world.

Falken can't run the factory team because Michelin is Porsche's official tire partners,It would cause a conflict with Porsche and Michelin.hopfully they are offered the chance to get a 991 though.

Maybe there is actually a clause [in the Michelin sponsorship contract] that makes Falken deal impossible, but clearly Michelins are a safer bet anyway and also wouldn't a tyre brand change pretty much waste a lot what they've learned this year.

I don't think Falken was ever trying to get the factory deal. They seem to like doing it themselves.

Well , there is sure to be a shortage at some rounds that may clash . If they get a 2 chassis Le Mans entry ..... thell be lookin at 6 . Plus the drivers who are headed for P1 .....

Not sure if all the drivers will be Porsche factory drivers, because Bennett mentioned in both his Qualifying and Race interviews that this week's driver swap was sort of a test for next year.
Sounds like it will be all factory drivers in the press release, though, so who knows?

I do wonder what the arrival date would be then. By Sebring? This has to weigh heavily on teams deciding on equipment for next season.

Take into consideration that Porsche will be focused on the LMP so they cannot deliver the 991 as fast as we want.

That is not any solace or help to the GT teams! GT has been their bread and butter, BAD move to hang it up so long IMO.
