"Future British Saloon Car Champion Bill McGovern’s 1963 Cooper S after he went off at Paddock Hill bend at Brands Hatch in 1965. The stranded Mini behind belonged to Chris Montague in his first BSCC race."

"Forty five minutes, two drivers, 30 Minis. These are the ingredients for the Goodwood Revival's John Whitmore Trophy presented by Sure, a magnificent celebration of the history of the Mini Cooper, played out at full throttle. The cars looked amazing, the drivers list easily matched it. Martin Brundle, Alex Brundle, Darren Turner, Jean-Eric Vergne, Neel Jani, Andre Lotterer, Andy Priualx Romain Dumas and more jumped into the tiny machines to fight it out for glory." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTJ0715dSWc |

I think Simon Ridge was the one who inspired a certain Mr Hunt to become a racing driver

Now there was a larger than life character. Good old Gerry. He certainly worked hard and played hard, just how most people expected racing drivers or other sportsmen to be

"Alec Poole was the British Touring Car Champion in 1969 in a Mini Cooper S. He explained that the trick in qualifying was to perhaps not get out of the way of the bigger class Escorts and when they slowed slightly, to tuck in behind them for the all important tow! He also spoke briefly about a fearsome machine Alec raced known as the Complan Turbo Mini. That car grew from 1300cc to 1430cc during development and ended up with huge arches and a Clubman style front and as Alec explained, there were teething problems but when it went, it really went! This car was reputed to have in excess of 180bhp from an A-series turbo in 1971 and it was apparently sold to the Carribean, as was his next project, a 4.5 litre P6 Rover."
