just getting a visual of said English grandad and French farmer!!! I once did a charity rally from Chelsea Barracks to Monaco and half way through France one of the cars met similar Montego on wrong side of the road just over a blind brow - result was one very crunched rep mobile (cant recall if it was a Montego!) and one reshaped M3. Not completely relevant but you reminded me of it.

thanks
so it looks like a busy weekend! I dont think I will have time for the Alfa which gives me more incentive to get it sold! Its about 4 hours to Calais from Spa isnt it? My Sunday race finishes 14.50, looks like a late ferry Sunday night. I am getting tired thinking about it! |

we're staying over Sunday night, 4 hours is safe to Calais, although I did it in 3 : 10 in the MK1 last year including a fuel stop.

We're staying over Sunday too. I think it's about four hours if you don't tow. The entry list for the six hours race is published. Allen Lloyd is entered in his GT40 again.

so was the decision Stavelot or Malmedy as the most convenient place to be stationed? Peter has suggested that actually camping at the circuit may not be the best solution due to lack of soft ground to pitch tent on

would leaving Spa on the Sunday at 6pm be ample to make an 11:30pm crossing back to the UK from Dunkirk?
Would a 6pm departure be missing anything? |

Paul.
You'll be missing the final race but you'd probably make the ferry barring traffic delays. (Y'know this is turning into a "Gravel Trap" thread). Stavelot has the museam and is as convenient as Malmady. I actually prefer it because it has a quaintness which Malmedy lacks. |

I was thinking of moving this to the 'trackside' forum actually Peter
Normally, I believe that threads about entering races or choosing between meeting, etc. belong here, but threads about staying at tracks / local hospitality / travel etc. belong in Trackside.. You started the thread - what do you think I should do with it? |

I don't mind at all. It has gone into a trackside style so why not move it? We can still link to it from here. Actually when I typed "Gravel Trap" I meant Trackside. But as you know the side of the track to a racer is the gravel trap!

Ferry booked (Dover - Dunkirk) and photographers pass pretty much in the bag
What are the Belgian autoroutes like regarding speed? Lots of cams? fairly draconian cops? |

Not sure about speed cops in Belgium. I know they used to have Porche 911s.
What time are you departing Paul? |

Have a look at the news page on my site. It links to the Spa 6 hiours site from where you can get the paddock layout. I'm entered for the British Sports and Saloon Cars race and the paddock is on the outside of the circuit near Eau Rouge.
Make sure you look us up. |
