Shame to see RT and Rapax go, both good frontrunners at times.
Sean Gelael signed with Prema. What on earth.... is he bringing boatloads of cash or something? About the only team mate that hasn't utterly destroyed Gelael would be Tatiana Calderón, which is pretty laughable. Although she beat him in points one of the 2 years they were together. Looking over his results he's only ever won 3 races! Two of them he had Giovinazzi as co-driver, so he's really just got a single race win to his name in the Formula Pilota China (never even heard of it). In fact, that second season with Calderon looks to be the only time he's ever finished ahead of a team mate in points. Even last year with Nato, who scored a win and two seconds, Gelaels best results: 5th, 6th and 9th. Wouldn't Prema be better off signing Nato? Wouldn't Norris want the seat, he's just about guaranteed that title as long as Rowland doesn't stick around another season. Nick de Vries or George Russell perhaps? But nope they put their hopes on Gelael. Ah well it's probably a good thing, we now know at least one of the Prema drivers won't be dominating and champions next year. |

It's a little embarrassing. Hartley's 27 right? Imagine him deciding to return to F2.
Also I wonder if any of the drivers at 3.5 this year will want to move to F2? Fittipaldi is the only one I could stomach, the rest are mostly GP3 outcasts. But even Fittipaldi only just beat Isaakyan and Celis Jr. Gosh even Calderon came and finished on the podium in the finale in her debut weekend. How bad does that make the rest of the field look? I'm thinking we might lose a few F2 regulars this time. There's a bunch that have been in the field going on a few years now, the time most drivers move on. Rowland would be 3rd full time, but when he also did 3.5 for two seasons he's getting on for juniors. Markelov, Matsushita, Nato, King. Surely Canamasas and Cecotto are done now. Latifi and Ghiotto probably only have 1 more season. |

Razzor - his old man could buy Toro Rosso I wouldn’t be surprised. Talent, or lack of it, makes no difference.

I'm not sure why you think it is embarrassing, it isn't as though he has 'returned' to F2 is it, more to the point, he has done a pretty good job after being parachuted in at the last minute.

Most drivers/teams see F2 as just a stepping stone, probably more than any other series. One that you don't stay in for your career. It would be like if Anthony Joshua returned to the Olympics. |

I don't think Glock had ever been in GP2 had he? He went from Porsche, F1 (only 4 races though), Cart then GP2. So his move to return to GP2 was odd but he made up for it winning the title in his 2nd season.
Grosjean did the same, a season of GP2, called up to F1 for just 7 races to partner Fred Alonso. Didn't perform and honestly how could he with Alonso as his team mate! Alonso makes everyone look slow. Stepped back down to win Auto GP then dominated GP2 the next season. In hindsight, they both returned and won it so it was the right move for them. Although on the other hand it could be said both were overquaified for Gp2 at that point, and both winning the titles was proof to that. Even if he ends up winning the F2 title next year, I don't think he has any chance of returning to F1. Grosjean I think did. But maybe he knows that and just wants to race single seaters. If he has no budget then good on him I suppose. |

I think you're being pedantic, obviously he means stepping back to feeder series single seaters after being in F1. Before he went to F1 he did Euro F3

Dutch TV made a report today that Nyck de Vries will be driving for Prema next year as Geleal's teammate... Not confirmed on internet yet, but that should be a good move for De Vries

@Juntos
Perhaps he will participate WEC either LMP2 or GTE-Pro with Ferrari. Or even he can participate DTM race with other manufacturer (Especially BMW or Audi) Speaking about Ferrari Driver Academy in F2 , Callum Ilott will takeover his seat as the new Ferrari Driver Academy in F2. |

According to F1-Stinger website,
Nirei Fukuzumi will drive Arden car at F2 test after Abu Dhabi race. And Tadasuke Makino will drive Russian time car at that test. Fukuzumi will participate in Super Formula from team Mugen in addition to Formula 2 activity next season. Nobuharu Matsushita will back to Japan, and participate in Super Formula. http://f1-stinger2.com/f1_news/20171...makinojapanese |

Maybe, but he would be down the back imo and it depends how much his Dad wants to spend. I’d think more likely GP3 again

@peebee2 By the way , I think Fuoco can continue to participate F2 , that because he have the sponsor which is Kaspersky Internet Security and he also a Ferrari Young Driver Program. But for Ghiotto I think is very hard to secure the F2 seat for the next season. Perhaps Markelov and Latifi can secure the seat at least next season due to the good championship result for Markelov while Latifi granted the Renault F1 seat as the test driver. If Sergey Sirotkin is transfer to Williams racing as the test and reserved driver then he also can secure as the reserved driver as well. Do you agree? How about your opinion? |
