But will Reither do the same and miss some races in FIA GT as this year, which would be better then not seeing them at all in FIA GT in 09.

Lets hope that the GT2 version of the Gollardo doesn't have the same poorly designed oil feed system that the GT3 has as they are suffering the same engine failures at Donnington as they did at Thruxton in the British GT.

Looking at the British F3/GT calendar i think the first dates can be confirmed now for the 2009 FIA GT calendar.

16/17 May - Monza
24/25 July - Spa 24
29/30 August - Bucharest

Motorsport aktuell reports that DKR Engineeing might enter their Corvettes in Fia GT 2009 because the GT1 situation in France is insecure for next year.

Absolutely, that was a couple of expensive detonations, which could have been easily avoided..

What about Jetalliance? Did they announce anything to the contrary yet, or are the indications of quitting the series?

On a side note: Until which year is the Maserati homologated?

Ah, found it. 2010, depending on the final rules, most probably a GT2 effort and 2009 being either another shot at the GT1 title or an early transition into GT2, depending on the final rule set and general team response. Will be interesting to see which way they go.

So, the Vitaphone Maseratis will at least be back for 2009 then.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I couldn't change it anymore and adding teams

I think they keep the MC12 homologated until Vitaphone changes to an other car

The MC12 is homologated until 2012 with the option for more. But as the GT1 in its actual form will die at the the end of 2009, it doesn´t matter.

I hope that JMB will bring its MC12, they did very well at Spa, but seems they are more happy with their LMS/ALMS Ferrari F430 GTC !

It seems that none of the teams really want a GT-1 World Championship, as late as Zolder. And the Ratel has asked/told them to be quiet about their lack of support for it until the new calendar comes out in Dec.

Lord knows you (he) don't want the prospective venues to find out that he does not have the support of the teams. Might just tip the scales in the wrong way with those that he is having to cajole into it!

yeah, I love FIA GT, and I agree with you HORNDAWG, this a complete stupid move from SRO, FIA GT now is really strong and good, so why changing ? why leaving Europe ? why splitting the future GT1 and GT2 ? sorry but this will open the door for many teams to join the more friendly GT Open, where costs are lower

Well if the Audi Gallardo series is scheduled for 2/3 May at Silverstone, I guess we can assume that's when the FIA GT's will be there too!!

http://www.fiagt.com/newsitem.php?key=1436

Slightly off topic, but just wondering if this bit of news has been discussed anywhere, if not thought this thread would be the one to bring it up in.
I look forward to seeing what cars end up where once these new rules go through. I thought the new GT1 cars were going to be based on the new GT2 cars, which to me meant GT1 Gallardo's, F430's, Vantage's and anything else that races in GT2. Based on that thought cars like the Murcielago and DB9 would be retired as they have smaller versions ready to take there place. Then read somewhere, that Ratel would like to see the Ferrari 599 and Aston DBS in GT1 in the near future, and if I read that article right, you can't have the same car in GT1and GT2. So some list of what will be a GT1 car and a what's considered a GT2 car would be interesting.
