Ah, that's what I figured.

Those outside curves are bloody expensive. I guess they never made them in high volumes.

So to move on to something different, what was your first set?

Mine was a Scalextric "Mighty Metro" set, with a banked figure of 8, two Metro Group B rally cars (Esso and Kenwood liveries). I also got given a Lamborghini Diablo (red) and a Jaguar XJR-9LM at the same time to go with it, plus all my dad's track and cars.

My first set was "Tourers 2000" - it came with a figure of 8 track and the two tourung cars I mentioned.

My dad owns our Strombecker stuff (permanent setup, check my webpage if you're curious), and it's been active for 32 years now.

When I was young he got me some AFX HO-scale stuff, but it was too darn fiddly compared to the Strombecker 1/32. The cars were expensive and finicky, the track was brittle, and magnets - ugh. I never got much use out of it; lord knows I tried.
