China last year had me asleep, one of the most dull races ive ever seen in Wtcc, Suzuka not much better unless someone 'has a go' Just follow my leader. But some races were very good to watch. Argentina, Moscow etc

The only dull weekends I can remember in 2013 were Sonoma and Suzuka, others were pretty much exciting. Anyway racing in WTCC is much better than in most series, even if there are no battles at the front, there are at the back. Of course, there are less manufactuters, and less championship battle intrigue, but the racing is still great.

while we wait for some other news I wanted know your opinion about the "official" reason to explain the renounce at opening round in Monza.
they said that they renounced at Monza due to high costs of the circuit. personally i find it simply ridiculous because if you dont wanna have high costs you should not go to race in marrakech which is famous to destroy the cars. so in the end if wtcc organizators think that rebuild a car after an impact on wall is less expensive than a round in monza i have to believe that or they are liars or they are stupids... what's your point? |

I think you're making a wrong assumption when you think that the high costs mentioned are the costs for the teams. I think it's about the costs for the organizer.
The organizers/promotors of racing series have to hire the tracks they race on. In the case of Marrakech this probably isn't expensive as their Tourism board might pay most of these costs (pure assumption on my behalf, but I wouldn't be surprised if it worked this way). Monza however is a high profile track, so renting it for a (long) weekend will come at a price. When you're a high profile series such as F1 you can bargain this price, or even make tracks pay you to visit them. WTCC however isn't that high profile unfortunately. |

One thing I must agree with Porsche - WTCC was better in 2006-07.
But last years weren't boring, it was less fight and overtaking I guess, but WTCC was always exciting because of its racing formula. I mean flying start (tell me if I use wrong word) and the reversed grid. About the number of cars It's completely normal that this season we can't expect 30 cars grid. The new rules made it. But last seasons we have the same number of cars that 2006-07. And Monza I really regret that there are no temple of speed in the calendar. But the real reason of that: They had to put France and Belgium into the calendar because of the Citroen. It's a shane that they throw Monza out of calendar, but as always, they appreciate more commercial aspects than the quality of racing |

Reminds me of the Brawn GP F1 car. Which isn't necessarily a good thing

Nikolay Karamyshev is going to drive 3 rounds in this year's WTCC (with one being almost certain Moscow) in a TC2 SEAT, as well as the full season in TC2 turbo category in ETCC. Though not mentioned in the article, his team has to be Campos

In general the numbers look normal (according to the photos at Motorsport-Total). I didn't like the ones they used in macau, they were way too big. The new ones are smaller and suit the car more. BTW, Muller, Loeb and Lopez should use numbers 1, 9, 37 accordingly
