Quite possibly, if you can get an Indycar around there could you get an LMP around safely?? But one lives to dream.... I think PI would be more realistic though of gaining an inclusion into the series, damn good track, I think the owners/promotors would be more perceptive to a sportscar race there then the Bathurst promotors.

Seems to me a few years ago when there was an Asian Le Mans Challenge Series, they didn't compete in it. They usually competed in the GT Series, didn't they? Anyway, I do get the point of your post.

DK

Edit: Actually after checking, they did enter two of three races in 2006 and none in 2007.

I cannot imagine them not adding Austrailia to the list in the future.

I hope you are correct, but I have my doubts.
Australia could certainly have a round of any proposed Asia/Pacific Le Mans series and do it well.

The issue with Bathurst is the length of the back straight with respect to FIA rules, I understand. I believe PI would be suitable and it is an excellent track!

bit daft shipping 30 cars all that way just for 1 race, but I always had my doubts about a standalone event (should have tried hooking up with gp2 or something).

Hindy did mention to Andrew Cotton that he believes the China race will be cancelled. Andrew said there would be an announcement today, and the subject was touched after that.

I guess there's not enough money to replace Shanghai by Suzuka.

The official press release on the ACO site also talks about the Asian entries:

"9 Asian teams have also confirmed their entries (Tokai University in LM P1, Navi Goh in LM P2, Nova team and JLOC in GT1, O’young racing team, Hong Kong Racing, Team Daishin, Hankook and KTR in GT2 who will take on the best European teams in their categories on home turf!"

I can't imagine that canceling one of two rounds that teams are traveling halfway around the world for can possibly improve the economies of scale, but maybe that's just me.

Well as I am not sure of the level of "preferential travel conditions", but it could mean that a large percentage of the costs to the teams will be negated, with ½ of the remaining cost being eliminated.

If that is indeed the case, correct. I do wonder how it is a viable economy of scale for the organizers still!

OH NO!!! If JLOC wins in GT1, they get an automatic bid to Le Mans! Go Nova Team or someone needs to get LAA or someone else to enter a GT1 to spare us from having to see that lame JLOC bunch again next year.

Nice to see Aston Martin making the trip to the east.
