Who Dares Loses then (and yes, I know his name is pronounced something like Dar-Ray (reminds me of taht old computer game StarRay!) so don't point that out.
I see Helio's got in front on the pitstops. COuld the three-peat be on the cards? Has Kenny had problems getting away on his pitstop? Typical that it's the spare Penske that Schmidt's running that fails, and the crack ones are fine. Last edited by BootsOntheSide; 25 May 2003 at 18:07. |

Shinji Nakano has collected one of his pit crew members and he is being taken to the infield care centre , he seems ok maybe a broken leg at worst

Yea, they reported that Kenny broke first gear gettng away from one of the early stops. Looks like a day to forget for team Rahal, but Bobby's experienced agony and ecstacy at this place.

I've now seen it all - a football field super-imposed over the track... why can't they let the sport stand on it's own without all the ridiculous comparisons and analogies? Paul Page, Arute, et al are so utterly painful to listen to as usual. Ugh! At the very least, I'll take schadenfreude (shameful joy) on Mikey's early departure.

Sickening how in their feature on mikey they tried to make him out to be "the fans" driver. what a joke. mikey's never given a rat's arse about any of the fans. Apologies if it's against the rules here to bash this IRL 500 dog show, on this, the "official thread". But, there was a day when I really enjoyed this race.  PS Anyone catch Uncle Bobby & Mario on ESPN Classic? Those were great days. |

I'm surprised that Meira hasn't made more of an impression after his strong qualifying speed, especially as Barron's ran steady top 10.
Is AJ4 really this slow? Looks like a Penske/Toyota truimpth at the moment, but the real racing starts later. Probably more yellows to come too. Last edited by BootsOntheSide; 25 May 2003 at 18:21. |

i like it , but tony george has made the IRL absolutely terrible in terms of reconciliation and making it a real Rival Openwheel series to the world Championship, that's why we have a beef with it, INDY And CHAMP cars never needed to split. It is a pretty good race though never miss them, Pook and CART made the effort for a common engine and sharing chassis, but George said no- he's a male genital and is ruining the sport.

Dixon is obviously having a fuel pickup problem, he's only been able to go about 30 laps on fuel.

Dixon should get throguh with only one more pitstop, same as everyone else, but he seems to be too far down at present.
Agreed Marcus that criticism of individual drivers or owners is okay, but this, above all, should be for race discussion, not criticism. |
