Dave van den Heuvel will drive for Motaworld. Last year the Dutchman drove for Marc Goossens Motorsport in Belgian Formula Renault 1600 Championship.

As far as I know Joey's working on obtaining the budget to race F3 this year, probably National Class.
After last season, I'd be very, very surprised to see him in Renault of any description! |

The times from this morning are now on MST.
Fastest this morning was Ben Clucas who was testing for Nexa, he was followed by Cheng, Jarvis, Hohenthal and Jakes. The full timesheets can be found at http://www.msttiming.com/toca/2005/51043frn.pdf |

Pre-season testing continues at Oulton Park this Wednesday and Thursday. Last Thursday at Brands the top 20 places were covered by just over 1 second. Looks like we're in for a very competitive championship!!

Looking forward to Oulton No4, should be up there both days (just hope it isn't as bloody windy as it was on Friday for the BMW test!)
The timesheets are looking good your right indeed, looks like we're going to have a competitive year. Just hope some of the racing is better than it was last season, as on far too many occasions it was more a game of how long you could stay awake during races! |

Niogret’s career is being guided by fellow Frenchmen Franck Marie, former Triple Eight Race Engineering Commercial and Marketing Director, and former British Touring Car Champion Yvan Muller, who will be keeping a close eye on their 20-year old protégé’s progress throughout the 2005 season, beginning at Donington Park on 9th/10th April.
Niogret commented: “Getting involved in Formula Renault UK for my first season in single-seater racing is a fantastic opportunity for me. Thanks to the help of Yvan and Franck as my management team to advise me along the way and with a team such as Firstair, which has a fantastic racing pedigree, to run my first season - and of course not forgetting Sean whose experience will be of great value - I believe all the right pieces are in place. “However, I know it is going to be a very steep learning curve in such a competitive championship and this is why I am planning to take my time to learn the car and the circuits, which will all be new to me, and if all goes well hopefully I’ll be among the front runners by the end of the season.” Touring car ace Muller, meanwhile, added: “Young talented drivers can sometimes find it hard to make the right decision to start or further their careers in motorsport and this is why Franck and myself have decided to help Jean-Robert along the way. “When first approached by him, we recommended he enter Formula Renault UK and we are pleased he followed our advice. To have now secured a drive for him with Team Firstair we feel Jean-Robert has the best possible chance to launch his career in single seaters.” |

I see from the testing times at Brands that Emmett Queenan was running with Team AKA. Is he a confirmed driver for this year?

Testing at Brands last thursday - a big disparrity in the times between front and back, 18 red flags with 11 of them because of people in the gravel at Paddock Hill bend.
Just an observation. |

Hmm, not sure I agree with that Andy - the top 22 cars were covered by 1.1 seconds. Only one car (23rd position) was off the pace at +2.600.

This is the link to the MST times -
MST Renault this is however the afternoon session which was dry. I think the timing sheet you found was for the morning which started out dry (ish) (for about 10 mins) and then rained. Hence not everyone went out when it was dry and thats why there was such a large difference between times |

Just checked out MST again and during the morning session and the most laps completed by a driver was 84 and the least was 13 - I guess some people decided to sit out the rain.
During the afternoon some people completed upto 110 laps - the test sessions were completed in 3.5 hour chunks, so plent of time to do a lot of laps and these chaps will pound around all day if you give them a chance!.. one guy did 185 laps during the whole day according to MST! |

Jamie (Morrow) told me he and a few others posted times in the dry last Thursday morning, after which it started to rain, hence the disparity in times and the number of laps completed.
However, the afternoon was dry, so most drivers got a good amount of laps in with Jamie finishing 14th, 0.644 off the leader. As Russfield said, given the length of the Indy circuit 1 second can cover a lot of cars. Oulton will give a clearer indication of how competitve the championship is going to be, though having watched the Wednesday session at Brands last week, my impression is that it will be tight overall. |
