Wouldn't be surprised to see second Rotek entry and third of the Focus' drop off the list as well...
Still, not a bad field. It really is becoming more GT isn't it? Less production cars every year. |

With murphy leading the NZ super tourers and the 12 hour clashing with the next round, I guess it makes sense that he would not attend

Out of interest, how much does it cost to enter a car? And do you do the entry fee cold if you pull from the race before the meeting actually commences?

If it was a $$$ issue, would it have been in BMWAUS's best interests to come to the party and have one of the worlds best GT teams attend and in all probability, challenge for a victory ?

Whilst it is very disappointing that there are these last minute withdrawals including the big loss of the Z4's, for me personally it is the "what could have been" that is hard to swallow and therefore it has you forgetting what we still have (fingers crossed) a pretty good field. If after last years event finished you had said that the majority of last years GT field would be back with the addition of the HTP Merc and the GTR, then it would have appeared to be another step forward and a quality field.
What we have is about 15 GT cars who all have a genuine shot along with many manufacturers. In anybody's book a race that included the likes of Schneider, Rast, Vanthoor, Mies, Kox, Winkelhock, Salo, Long, Gavin and Huff is world class. Let's just hope that we don't lose any cars in practice and qualifying. Is the answer to having last minute withdrawals to find an answer to the safety issues which only allow a cap of 55 cars. If we can accept 65 cars, then obviously any last minute withdrawals will still leave a good sized field. |

i think its more geographical with the drop outs especially from O/S... cant say how you cant stop drop outs, especially if its funding related.
At Least BMW AUS is looking into it... maybe next year they might put some cash towards it. does anyone know what happened to conroy motorsport... last i heard peter was going to buy a different car?? Last edited by KSM86; 29 Jan 2014 at 04:21. |

Given the move to broaden the GT cars in the event, which I believe is great...
Question....would there be enough interest and depth to leave the 12 hour as a GT/purpose built non production car based event to accomodate GT based cars and attract manufacturers & teams with cars such as the Racer Industries Focus's, Daytona Coupes, BMW GTR's, Seat Leon Cupra's & Peugeot RCZ's from last year etc etc. Also with the intention of ensuring all cars lap under say 2:20-2:25, and create another event for production cars, given that now we only have two actual production cars (GWS BMW 335i & Herridge STI) in the race. Even if it is a 6 hour event that is linked with the Bathurst Motor Festival at Easter. I believe you would attract a large field....Thoughts? |

must say Im feelng a little bit let down about all this. I had high hopes after last year
Now we have smaller field than last year, smaller GT3 field than last year. However some bigger name drivers involved. Not sure the variety of cars is as good as last year though, but i havent checked however my trip is booked so i will still be there. and im actually looking forward to seeing the focuses run, although i cant imagine that will keep my attention all day especially because they are time limited (maybe that wont matter though) Qualyfying should be good without the minumum time (although I wont be there saturday or have access to the net) |
