Thats why I changed my headlamps for the last Brands meeting. We knew the weather would be bad and the LEDs just weren't up to the job.
I also got rid of the tinted perspex covers and fitted clear ones |

A group of Mini enthusiasts have pledged an extra award to the highest placed Mini in class E of DMN next year. This will be similar to the VAG and Ford RS awards that we already present.

Ahh yes but we now have to have an alternator................The only item that failed on my car causing a non finish last year,so I removed it and the wiring and bought a powergrip water pump drive kit which doesn't have any provision for an alternator

Hmmm...with all this talk of extra awards we're almost back to the one car per class comment there was before...

Maybe one award per class is the way to go. Just provide one good quality award and it would make all the effort of a class win worth while. It would be more prestigous to the class winner and also shorten the time it takes to present awards. Just a thought!

Interesting to see peoples thoughts on awards. I have spoken to the Mini enthusiasts and persuaded them to do just one award, probably at the end of the year, rather than each meeting. Likewise we can look at more prestigious class winner awards and drop the other places if that's what everyone wants.

To work hard to come 2nd or 3rd in a race (lets face it I was never going to beat Bill this year and despite the class restructures there's bound to be a dominant car/driver in each class) with no award wouldn't be what I want. |

OK, so we will re-instate the other class awards, but I won't bother trying to get any more "bonus awards".

I dont want to offend, upset or tread on anyones toes, but i see it that some drivers have been lucky to receive awards As a reader of the regulations and as i understood it, 'awards per round Subject to numbers of finishers in each class, trophies to:- Class winners if 3 or more starters in class 2nd in class if 5 or more starters in class 3rd in class if 8 or more starters in class Classes where thre are less than 3 starters will be amalgamated' I have been to some of the awards this year and am sure that some drivers have received awards that do not follow the regs (which i know is the clubs right to do) Rod and the rest of the commitee work really hard for the drivers benefits to get extra bonus trophies and give some people chances to get awards that they may not usually find themselves getting. I am not sure of the Tin Tops regs but i know at the last Tin Top meeting there were 2 cars in one class and they both received trophies for 1st and 2nd respectively. I do however think that the last part of the regs about classes with less than 3 starters should be amalgamated should be enforced. One other thing maybe there should be a trophy or token for the highest charger (Mark Hosken does it for the VAG cars) the person that makes up the most places in a race, i know the driver of the race isnt neccessarily the person that does this |

I must admit that at one point I had hoped/wondered about the viability of a mini-only class within the DMN regs (akin to the now defunct Extreme Mighty Minis that Peter C used to race in) to accomodate the various modded non-Miglia minis out there looking for a 'home'. The lack of interest for '10 killed that idea before it even started but maybe it's something to consider for '11 if we end up out-classed by a well sorted Escort or Pug? |

Points noted Chris. We will look at the classes again if a sudden influx of Minis (or Fiestas) warrants the old class E being reinstated. Intermarque remains unchanged as far as the up to 1600cc dual valve class is concerned.

roughly speaking my season last year including the new spec dry sumped engine cost me about 10K, if all i really wanted was a pot i could of bought a fabulous solid gold one and had a lovely carribean holiday with the family holiday and have cash left over........................ |
