The SLS is cool but this silver-green livery isn´t very good. The SLS has an amazing sound, very muscular.

SPOILER ALERT Exciting, action-filled race. After Alex Figge opened a decent gap but Randy Pobst fell prey to Ryan Dalziel and James Sofronas, a late yellow (real, not manufactured---#51 Bushey Nissan broke) closed things up set up a four-lap shootout. Read no further if you don't want to know the Race #1 results Figge ran wide in T1 on the restart and Dalziel took the win; Pobst fell back in T10, losing position to both CadilaCS. GTS was just the same (constant action and lead changes) but I couldn't follow all the action in both classes. This series is a lot like CTCC except a little more manic because of the shorter race, and with no winner's weight penalty everyone went for it. Good stuff. |

Dalziel's splitter was ten mm too wide and Figge was given the win. Still an amazing race. And another one to come Sunday morning.
Thi sseries is worth watching. I t reminds me of FIA GT in the variety and excellence of the cars, with some CTSCC cars tossed in for traffic. Good stuff. |

Thankfully, they're already letting us watch the replay of the race on their site.

You know, after seeing this series on the weekend with the SLS and R8 now in it, if they added a real prototype (either P1 or P2) class to their sprint races they could give the USCR a real run for the money with 2 races each event IMO. That way we wouldn't have to stomach all the DP and LMPC garbage machinery. Not endurance and a little bit of touring car thrown in, but hey... The touring cars aren't Mazdas at least, they're bad ass Caddys and Volvos. Cool cars are what it's all about. These guys allow GT3 and an LMP class, voila! Tim Pappas said his SLS had a large restricter and a little bit smaller splitter but other than that it is pretty much off the shelf GT3. These Audis don't have to have the goofy size roll cage either.

I see no reason to attempt to add a prototype class to this series. If teams couldn't be assed to buy and run prototypes in the ALMS for the last 5 years then I don't see why they would suddenly change their minds if this series allowed them.
Was a good pair of races, I look forward to the rest of the year. Coverage was definitely far better this year as well. |

Just watched a little of the St Pete event; great cars and looking forward to seeing them on a proper circuit.
Fantastic to have the on demand replay directly from the site. |

Well, races are much shorter, so it would be much cheaper to run. Of course, media coverage is also quite less, but that can change if sponsors invest.

Privacy Star, Entrust, and Bridgehampton Investments are all on my list of products/services never to use (not that I likely ever would, but ... )
Dudes, getting caught breaking the rules Proves the consistency and professionalism of the series. Getting penalized for breaking the rules ios proof that no teram gets special treatment---you know, a level playing field? Complaining because you got caught make s it pretty clear that your firms object to fairness and morality. |

Now, if some cars get penalized and others don't, that's another story. |

Talk about a convoluted situation..
Charles Morgan, who co-owns Truspeed, is executive chairman of Entrust / Privacy Star...which is the primary backer of Truspeed. No big surprise there per say. But he is ALSO co-owner of the company that actual promotes and holds the World Challenge series? (WC-Vision) So he is withholding sponsorship from his team and his series, based on a ruling by his own series? As one of the primary backers of the series this is a pretty big loss as far as sponsorship goes I would think - after all there is a privacy star logo right next to Pirelli on every windshield banner. Ever heard the phrase "cutting off the nose to spite the face"? |

Having read very little of the this story other than what has been written and linked here, there has got to be more than just a single post race penalty that influenced the investors to pull their funding of the series. I really hope this doesn't have an adverse effect on the series itself as it does seem to have some good momentum going.

The SCCA World Challenge joined the V8 Supercars at Austin the past weekend. Race videos will be published here very soon, so I'm not spoiling the GT or GTS results. Some numbers:
There were 48 cars in the two GT / GTS races, and 36 cars in the three TC / TCB races. I doubt that the SCCA World Challenge and Conti Challenge will merge, there's too many drivers around! And no, the TCB grid isn't pathetic. There were 21 cars in the three races. And the winner in all of them was Ernie Francis, a 15-year old! Jamie Whincup qualified at 1'31.1 with the Holden Commodore. Johnnie O'Connell did 1'33.5 with his Cadillac CTS. Last edited by NaBUru38; 21 May 2013 at 18:40. |
