Drinking_wigga should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Just out of pure nosy interest, does anyone know how JPM's 2014 salary compares to his NASCAR deal?

Ditto here. He was dreadful in IndyCar in 2011, fell back to Indy Lights for 2012. I was unhappy to see him back in the big series in 2013 and he didn't impress.

On the other hand, he has exciting hair.

I like the Penske Verizon livery. It does a lot for the DW12.

Yep, instead we got stuck with two of the most overrated drivers in the sport one of which is getting into his 40s soon.

Wish more young talent (talent not money) like SdS found their way to the front of the Indycar field. It's a shame for Indycar but I wish her the best in her F1 endeavour.

Update: Bell is rumoured to KVSH, Busch will compete with a Chevy car (so no Andretti, perhaps Carpenter). So my guess for Indy:

Scott Dixon (Ganassi)
Charlie Kimball (Ganassi)
Ryan Briscoe (Ganassi)
Tony Kanaan (Ganassi)
Hélio Castroneves (Penske)
Will Power (Penske)
Juan-Pablo Montoya (Penske)
Marco Andretti (Andretti)
Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti)
James Hinchcliffe (Andretti)
Carlos Munoz (Andretti)
Simon Pagenaud (Schmidt Peterson Hamilton)
Mikhail Aleshin (Schmidt Peterson Hamilton)
Sébastien Bourdais (KVSH)
Sebastián Saavedra (KVSH)
Graham Rahal (Rahal Letterman Lanigan)
Justin Wilson (Dale Coyne)
Ed Carpenter (Carpenter)
Josef Newgarden (Fisher Hartman)
Takuma Sato (Foyt)
??? Oriol ServÃ*a (Rahal Letterman Lanigan)
??? James Jakes (Dale Coyne)
??? Luca Filippi (Herta)
??? Carlos Huertas (Panther)
??? Townsend Bell (KVSH)
??? Conor Daly (Foyt)
??? Kyle Busch (Carpenter)
??? Sage Karam (Dragon)
??? Buddy Lazier (Lazier)
??? JR Hildebrand (Andretti)
??? Michel Jourdain jr. (Rahal Letterman Lanigan)
??? Katherine Legge (Dreyer-&-Reinbold)
??? Sam Bird (Schmidt Peterson Hamilton)

I agree, after his run at Indy last year throughout the month of may and his likely victory had Dario not "accidentally" () wrecked he certainly deserves a full-time ride.

Severely underrated driver.

Good choice. It's great that Plowman gets a 2nd chance at racing IndyCars. He really impressed me with his P1 in free practise at Sonoma in 2011 while driving for AFS Racing.

Agree this is good - I've liked Plowman for a while. He was pretty convincing in the LMPC cars in the ALMS in recent years, too.

Could there be a Garage 34 at Indy, like Le Mans' Garage 56?

Can't overly see how that would work unless the speed was very carefully matched, it works fine in multi-class racing where there are always lots of speed factors, but in a formula racing series the car will either be too fast and "win" the race which will be rather embarrassing, or too slow and pose a danger (they black flag cars for going too slow).

Would make more sense at a road course event.

The 4-wheel drive STP-Paxton Turbocar made its 500 debut in 1967, with Parnelli Jones behind the wheel and almost won. It ran again in the 1968 500 with Joe Leonard driving but it crashed out.

The use of gas-turbine engines and 4-wheel drive, was continued by Lotus with the Lotus 56, though the performance of the engine was much reduced and therefore more evenly matched. It has been done before.

Do you suppose this is a series initiated proposal or did somebody come at them with the expectation they will be the first Garage 34 entry?

Either way, I see this as positive as it may bring extra attention to the race.

It's fine but it's a gimmick. There's no point to it beyond that, given that they are just committed to a one make chassis formula for the long term.
