We're off to Tenerife for most of December to celebrate milady's 80th (she didn't want her kids organising a "do" ) and of course to enjoy a warm spell whilst avoiding the pre-Xmas nonsense over here......did the same last year and was able to spend the whole period clad in Jeans and T-shirt, sometimes weakening and donning a jacket in the evening.......hoping its the same next week - currently forecast as low 20s.....which is fine by me..... |

I mentioned this astounding statistic to Mrs M and a couple of colleagues at work who all remained thoroughly underwhelmed so I thought I'd share it with you lot. I've only raced a single seater at Silverstone twice in my entire life, both times this year a few weeks apart on the national circuit. My fastest lap on both occasions was 66.554. It might not be that quick, but it is at least consistent

Sounds a a bit like Rush Iain. The original LeMans, for its time, was far better. Many stories were told about the Piper crash, which was left in as it was "so realistic"!. At least Mcqueen went in to see the unfortuneate Mr Piper everyday of his stay in hospital and paid all bill's.

Bauble could be queuing up at his local doctor's surgery for a flu jab! I got a text giving me the next date for our clinic, and as would be passing the place while walking to the rail station that afternoon, thought would call in for a jab. When I got there, the queue was out the door and across the car park! And it was perishing cold, so wonder how many succumbed to the bug while waiting.....
So looks like will have to 'risk it' for another winter! |

Tim, Mike,
If you need a 2016 calendar featuring Morgan pics feel free to follow this link. http://1drv.ms/1OhLDBm Now that really is sensible. Off to Silverstone tonight to take on the Marshal's Pub Quiz, and try to improve on our 'first loser' position of last year. Nice to be missed, Mr Bauble. |

Mike, living in Luton flu is the least of one's worries, mind you I always thought that Ebola Virus played for Chelsea. Thank you for your concern though. Happy Christmas, Bauble. |

HSCC 70's Road Sports
For information, extract from HSCC website today:
"The classes for the Historic Sports Car Club's successful 70s Road Sports Championship have been revised for 2016. To better represent the available cars from the 1970s and to encourage more cars, particularly MGBs, a new class division has been created for cars with engine sizes from 1600cc to 1800cc. Previously the class was for 1600cc to 2000cc cars, but the popularity of the MGB prompted the change. Over half a million MGBs were produced between 1962 and 1980 and the model continues to provide excellent value for money racing. Cars ready for conversion to racing trim are widely available in the £3000 to £5000 price range. The other class change is designed to encourage greater participation by smaller-engined cars. The split between steel-bodied and glassfibre-bodied cars has been removed and there will be a single class for cars up to 1600cc, which should deliver some excellent racing among evenly-matched cars. The revised class structure is: Over 3000cc 2001cc to 3000cc Lotus 1600cc Twin-Cam (Elan, Europa and Seven) 1801cc to 2000cc 1601cc to 1800cc Up to 1600cc Invitation class" |

Well this is a surprise:
"The number of vehicles without road tax - Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) - doubled to 560,000 this summer according to the Department for Transport's survey, months after the paper tax disc was abolished in October 2014. The Department for Transport admits these changes probably caused the increase in untaxed vehicles." Who would have guessed that would happen? |

This has actually prompted me to check our cars - pay them all on direct debit so hopefully there will be two triggers to remind me when they need renewing, but as one is due end of January I'll have to start thinking about it after we get back from Tenerife.
As we're away most of December I'd toyed with SORNing two of them while we were away, but the faffing around cancelling DD's and reinstating them will probably outweigh my miserliness... |

I've just had renewal of my DD. There's no reminder just an email saying it's been renewed.
