Cheap Race Meeting 4/5 December

I'm just pulling some ideas together for a trial race meeting with Low Competitor Costs and Value for Money as the main purpose behind it.
Any figures mentioned below are advisory at the moment, but won't be very wide of the mark.

Saturday Test Day - Optional - £75 per driver

Sunday Race Day
Qualifying Session [Fastest lap counts for Race 1 Grid and 2nd fastest lap counts for Race 2 grid]
2 x 15 lap races and decent trophies

Entry Fee £100

If your car complies to more than one class, entry into a second class is £60

Potential Classes :

FF1600

Single Seater Racing Cars upto 2000cc - classes to suit entry received

Saloon Cars - classes to suit entry received

Sports Cars - classes to suit entry received

Venue - Anglesey
Date - Sunday 5th December 2004

What thoughts are out there? Would you support this meeting?

Diz, I would be interested but if the weather had turned into proper winter by the date then I would probably wimp out.

Nigel
Anglesey Circuit has a micro climate and doesn't do 'winter', well not usually.

Would consider it but would depend very much on the state of completeness of the car.

We generally rip the car apart straight after the last race but I am not sure what we will be doing this winter.

Sounds good Diz. Would consider it if I still have a car in one piece after the WHT.

Remember there's also single-seater and Caterham Graduate races at Mallory on Boxing Day, organised by BARC Midlands. £100 for two races.

Indeed, we could perhaps construct a FF1600 winter series out of this.

There's also a BARC-SEC meeting on at Silverstone Stowe on Nov 27. Races for Saloons, Single seaters (upto 2 litres) and 7's (I think). Practice and 2 races for £110. Finishing order of race 1 forms the grid for race 2.

Plenty of chance for "off season" racing.

Swift, I remember that series as I did both meetings. Four races (one was FF) x 2 on one day - two weeks apart, in mid November.

The first was a glorious day but the second was the wettest I have ever seen. I've a Martin Ruddick photo from Radar and it's so wet you cannot see where the track ends and the sea starts - just grey spray.

Enjoy your chippy (and a motor racing video??) tonight

Sounds great. I could use the weekend to break in the new first year students - sort the men from the boys so to speak. I'll even let them have the awning to themselves while I stay at The Anchorage! Are you up for it Foreversideways?

Away in the sun! I'm sure that money could be better spent. I may have to contact his super-sub - I'm determined to freeze some students!

Count me in for sportscars, Diz (or sports/saloons?). I normally trek up to Anglesey over the winter for trackdays, and the weather is often most unseasonal (i.e. I've got a suntan!). My only concern is we seem to be filling up November/December with end of season meetings - anyone thought of organising races in Jan/Feb...?
