On another note, Valerio ended his race early courtesy of a shove out of Les Combes. His assailant's car had a mainly white and blue livery so it must've been either DPR or Arden. I'm wondering if it was our overly aggressive friend Mortara again? |

re: coletti: no idea, but this from the f3euroseries.com press release on his appearances (though evidently there was more than one appearance):

I was at the track and in the Gold 2 stand. Colletti car sounded bad when it when past me and I watched it into Eau Rouge due to the different sound. Definate mechanical caused the crashed.

Ahem. Shouldn't a GP2 expert know that?
Have to say I'm delighted for Parente. A really classy drive to beat the champion-elect. Not a bad hat-trick - wins in BF3, WSR and now GP2 on the best driver's circuit in Europe. OK, eulogy over. |

And some bad news for some drivers: Nunes, Clos and Panciatici were penalised 25" due to diverse sporting infringements. Nunes for defending his position over his teammate Van der Garde cutting the ex-Bus Stop chicane, Clos for speeding in a sector with yellow flags. No reason determined for Panciatici's penalisation.
So with this Nunes loses his 5th place and now Mortara is the poleman for tommorows race. http://www.italiaracing.net/notizia.asp?id=24623&cat=4 |

(it's top 10 in race 1 and top 8 in race 2, in case it was keeping anyone awake at night ) Quote:

Exactly are top 8 in race 1 and top 6 in race 2, plus points for pole and point of each fastest lap (from top 10 finishers). The positions with points are exactly covered in the GP2 Two Worlds Prediction Competition format.

Gareth Rees blames Pastor, but I think he had enough of a car in front going into Les Combes, albeit on the ouside, for Mortara to have to think sensbily about it as either driver could have gone off.
Edoardo's getting very naughty in my book! Hulkenberg out after a tap round at La Source after the start. Now Parente out with a smoky engine. once again only 2 laps in and almost half the field gone! |

Di Grassi whacked Mortara at the chicane and both out!
Reasonable scrap going on in 2 separate groups now. Sergio Perez is 4th and absolutely flying! Gaining on Nunes, Rodriguez and ultimately Van de Garde I reckon with 10 left? |

Perez losing upto 2 secs a lap behind Nunes, seems the cars really struggle following out of a slow corner but not so much anywhere else!!
Still, the 2 of them are gaining on Rodriguez now? |

Fantastic move from Petrov! Barwa Addax team ought to be a bit miffed with Valsecchi I think, cost himself another place in the process.

Petrov past Valsecchi for 6th up the hill at last, bit late now though! Davide really didn't want to let him go and almost punted him off afterwards!!
He might be able to catch the impressive Rigon for 5th, but doubt it. Perez progress has definitely stalled, Nunes upped his pace just enough to keep him behind. It's all got a bit processional now unfortunately with 2 left. |

Giedo van der Garde has won 2 of the last 5 races - has he been in GP2 all season?

Yep, he just started to get regularly into the top 8 and races smart and well. On the other hand, Mortara has gone downwards and from the constant podium finishers from last year, he's gone into someone causing lots of incidents.

Mortara is damn quick, of that there is little doubt but he has turned into a bit of a crazyman and is surely in danger of getting his license endorsed if he carries on banging into people? It's not just in GP2 he's been overly aggressive bit also in his brief FR 3.5 outings too. If he can calm down and keep his head in battle he must be a top contender next season. |

Perez is looking more spectacular as each race goes on. Pity he had a hydralic failure preventing him to start the first race otherwise who knows, he might have won the race. 4th from last and setting fastest lap on the sprint race was outstanding. Monza is his favorite track so he should do really well there
