Leave TMC, spend a little more money in the short term but in the long term have a much healthier suistainable and popular race series..

I actualy find it hard to believe TMC are in the business as promoters. They cant promote squat!
How do you work all of that out? From what I understand Mark and his guys will be lucky to even sell 10 cars! How will this make a motor racing event even worth promoting? What other classes want to race with them through the off season? They are only racing at 2 race tracks in NZ have no support classes and no TV organised! I think this whole new series is a joke and not a good thing for the CEO of NZV8s to try and have a break away series that will only fragment NZV8s! NZ is to small for this!

hey Mark, still waiting for a spreadsheet of entries Vs events over the last few seasons................ or is the reading too grim to admit to??

how much of the interest/enquiry, in this new car/series, involves a multi car team with David John as the entrant

My favourite quote from the article:

Quote:
We will know that’s the case when there are consistently 20 of them turning up and racing at premier events. At that point we might just have a go at the title, but until then our support remains with Porsche.
Aren't there around 8 Porsche 997s at the moment....

FYI, the first cars off the 'production line' will be FG Ford Falcon's.

Only 16 cars will be produced this year

Ten cars have been ordered and deposit's received.

A further 4 "Intentions to purchase" have also been received.

A full list of committed drivers and teams will be published in the next few days, however I can confirm that one of the cars ordered is for 17 year old Kiwi sensation Scott Mclaughlin.

Thats great news Mark, great to hear that at least 16 cars will be produced and thats more than the GT3 class anyway. I cant wait to see the list of commited drivers, and i'm expecting to see a few aussies in there.

But of course the best new is for Scott, he WILL be a force to reckon with in the future of V8ST and V8SC and i personally think he is the next cheeseburger.

I have been reading into this more an more now and although there are a few haters out there who seem to want to see this innovative new class fail, the majority of people (including the aussies) thinks its a goer and will provide more linkage betweem V8SC, which, from my point of view is the best racing package in the world (you can stick F1 )

Great stuff Mark and i will watch your website daily to check for updates

(have 2 degrees though about a vodafone type sponsoship yet???)

A couple of Q's actually Mark if you dont mind:

1) Will the new car share the same roll cage as a V8SC complete with Pretty Bar (at least thats what i thinks its called!)?

2) on the VE is the rear door 40mm shorter than the road going car?

3) Are the tyre sizes the same as V8SC?

4) if a V8SC can do Hamilton in a low 1.24, what do you think a well oiled V8ST will do it in?

5) will the driving position be 'in-board' like a V8SC?

6) Will the new car have air jacks?

7) Will the new car have the ability for the driver to alter brake bias and roll bar/centre adjustments?

Sorry for the barrage Mark, but just trying to build a picture here

Was really referring to what i read in other V8 type forums (V8 central, V8 racer that kind of thing). It seemed that some were in while some were out hence the comment

I have looked quite hard to find these answers but couldn't locate them, hence the Q's. All i can get is that these cars will be similar to a V8SC but that doesn't answer my questiions around the techy differences between the two.

Mark has been kind enough to answer a few other queries of mine too, so i agree with you fomoco that he comes across as a top man

I wonder if V8SCI, can learn something from this?

The Kiwi's have certainly moved in the right direction in regards to cost contaiment, and it will show driver ability, and Team work to get the best out of he cars.

Some great racing coming from the land of the long white cloud.

Shop around the car for the "right guy" with the "right budget", i'm sure there are a few NZV8 steerers that would like to get into the class, but don't have the budget to buy and run their own, but a pay-to-drive deal might be more tempting...

Drink Hooooooooray!

Motorsport is well and alive and the genuine racers are puting there money where their mouth is and leaving XXX and Martin Fine, Geoff Short and co to suck their own lolipops instead of everyone else's, Its about time! What Fine and co did to their rival teams at Taupo is nothing short of corrupt and disgraceful so good on someone and the new Super Touring Class for taking their own route. At least there will be no BatteryTown money going to the meeting and Martin Short, no one paying for the pace car, the coffees that directors own. Good to see 70% of field have commited to the new car and the big names as well.

Something's missing? Taupo? What happened?

Batter Town money and Martin Short?

Oh boy, lots of unanswered questions - please enlighten those who weren't there?
