Thats a great idea - expecially if you like rebuilding or replacing motors every second round.
Data is brilliant because you can see what the clown in the car is doing on downshift (or if bad enough upshift) - and you can keep an eye on your mixtures and warnings. I've seen guys driving with oil pressure lights on for seconds at a time let alone just watching a gauge (if the light fails). Mixture gauges would be no good for half the drivers out there, although not critical on EFI - never say never. You could have fuel feed issues and hole a piston - Data allows you to examine post race and make sure the guy in the seat is doing what he/she should be.

Intesting pricing an LS7 at $13k US too. Was that advertised online As I can only see the pricing around $16k without freight, wiring and accesory drives etc. maybe it was GBP that you were looking at - if not, let me know where, I know some people looking for these things.

many of the Commodores in Central Muscle Cars run stroked 304s. from memory Sinclair's blue machine uses an alloy block.. no doubt the same block legal in NZV8s

What is your view of the "everyone shall have a GM engine" (and the Fords can paint them blue) decision?

Hi Spiller, FYI this is where I got the pricing, it was the first result that came up when I googled 'LS7 Crate Engine'

http://www.crateenginedepot.com/LS7-...98-P930C2.aspx

Your mates might want to get their credit cards out ??

Thanks for that - there's a few things of interest on there - cheaper than the genuine GM site too.

Well the pictures I saw of the car, it's a nice piece of equipment, purpose built for racing.

I wish they had found some way of including Ford power as Ford here in the USA has several crate engine possibilities. Overall going to the modern crate engine as they did looks like a good idea in terms of keeping costs more reasonable while providing enough power.

Agreed, and I wonder how Ford NZ feel about the bit of "badge engineering" as seen below?

Hey Mark, considering that the Australian V8's have their fuel tank at the boot of the car and what we all saw at Waneroo, is the NZ V8COTF got their fuel tank in front of near the rear axle?

The graphics could flow better with the shape of the car I think. Never-the-less a great effort overall.

Watched the new car lap Hampton Downs today, mainly in wet (at times very wet) conditions. Sounds the part, looks the part, seemed to run faultlessly all day with 2 to 3 lap runs.
Full credit to those involved with the build although knowing the designer and some of those involved I would expect no less.
