Redracer77 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Morning all,

You WILL at this stage need an international licence for the Dubai event but I am trying to get that to a National A and then you can get a UAE licence for £40 when you arrive.

The hotels will be -

Shangri la - Dubai - 5*
Fairmont Dubai - 5*

The above information is subject to getting the go ahead for the event as the F3 event is not 100% as yet. The organisers have said that they will try and accomodate us with other dates if they can.

Great a winter series. Four rounds sounds good.
Can we stay over into January?
Does Santa Claus's flightpath include Dubai, or do I have to take my own prezzies with me?
Shall I shut up now?

I am looking at chartering a plane as in the long run it maybe cheaper... I have been offered a good deal that will get the flights down to £375 a head - But I will have to sell 235 seats on the plane for it to work....I will keep you informed.

Imagine if the plane crashed. FF1600 would be finished.

No it wouldn't. A whole new batch of wannabes are waiting in the wings, as they have been since 1967.

RR have you spoken to Lee Hannam [Britannia], or Clive Thompson [BA]? Being pilots, they may have contacts. And Martin Cowburn regularly flies a Tiger Moth type thingy. I can't remember what it is called, but it is old.

High fliers my NW drivers.

no deposits yet Diz

We have 67 drivers wanting to do it but I need a firm answer from Dubai if the F3 event is going to take place as they are still sorting out the contract.

I did email everyone with a couple of hotel options but only had 1 response so far - need that info before I can start doing deals with hotels and airlines etc.

I had a brave idea of leasing a plane so we could set our own time table but I would need to get 235 people to make it work....Not sure I am that brave at the moment as I would have to pay the whole leasing costs if the event didn't take off. Although I could always sell pre Christmas shopping trips to Dubai.......

Just a thought Diz, How many do you think can actually get in Martin's Tiger Moth? Also we'd have to leave now to be in with a chance of getting to Dubai in December..........
.....ha ha ha

How about a Formula Ford flat patch to be used by all Kents going out to Dubai? I will supply all of the equipment FOC as long as the drivers pay for me to get there.

what do you think?

I have been round the new Dubai race circuit today. It is the best circuit, just amazing..!! 2 x 1km straights and banked corners etc it has it all. Will be loads of overtaking as it is so wide. Makes Silverstone look like a kart track.....

I got some mpeg videos but didn't get any pictures as I went round the circuit. Only did 3 laps but it was awesome. I am writing a report on the circuit for www.clubff1600.co.uk

The FF1600 race this year is not looking good. The Euro F3 race is in the balance over funding of the event. Which would put us out. Paul Berger (Dubai Autodrome) is really keen to get us out and offered us a slot on the LG Super Racing weekend with the Euro Touring cars, FIA GT's and Formula Renault V6 but that is the first week of October and would have been a problem for the SOM drivers and all drivers that wanted to do the Brands Festival? I spoke to Ian Sowman about it while I was away and it was maybe too soon for most people as licence upgrades would be needed and home Championships still to be won.

As soon as other series book events then we will be told so we can get organised. It with either have to be a Feb or March race or we will have to wait till December 05? There maybe a chance that other championships will have an exhibition event in December that we can join? We also have the possibility of clubbing 6 or 7 other championships together and having our own event? Maybe FF1600 (all classes), Caterhams, Ginettas, Formula BMW, Porsche Cup and Radicals with FF1600 being the top billing off course!! Although I don't have the time to arrange this event or the know how?

I personally would like to piggy back on a top billed event similar to the LG Super Racing weekend and make a real event of it?

Please give me your feedback.

Think this year might be a bit dead now but we should plan ahead for late 2005. It's no good racing in the main part of the year and I'd rather race in Dubai on Boxing Day than at mallory Park, much as I love Mallory.
