Another setback for Minardi

At the Japanese GP speculations were doing the rounds that Mugen Honda might stay in Formula One in 2001 and it was said that an announcement on their future was imminent.

According to reports in Japan, they have elected to pull the plug on any further involvement in Formula One, which comes as a huge setback to the Minardi team, who was linked with Mugen Honda for engine supply in 2001.

Minardi's only feasible option left is Supertec engine supply, which comes with a hefty price tag.

In Minardi Fan's absence I will speak for supporters of underdogs everywhere.

In spite of Minardi's poor results this season, F1 will be the poorer without Minardi. I only hope they find a way, not just to stay in F1, but to make progress towards a competitive team.

Besides, who would be left for Jaguar to beat?

Poor Minardi. They would be a great loss to Formula 1 - this sport is now seriously lacking in teams who are passionate about their racing (ie. Ferrari, Minardi) and there are too many that are just some sort of business (ie. McLaren). I hope Minardi can get an engine supply.

How about we all pool together and pay for a supply of Supertecs? I'll throw in the first £50...
