I think you may be on to something... maybe a similar situation to certain WTCC quali @ Macau a few years ago

There was a note that when (or if) the qualifying session goes ahead the GTC & GT2s will run together, and then PC/P1.

Green flag! Green flag! Well, for F2000 at least. 50 more minutes until ALMS practice. Supposedly at least.

Looks like some really good planning on someone's part.

So we are delayed 2 to 2 1/2 hours?

More like 5 hours as far as ALMS first practice is concerned.

Less than 1 minute into USF2000 practice and...

Red Flag, car in wall!

Also, as of 2 Hours ago, somebody posted a picture on trackforum of workers still assembling the catch fencing!

Just saw a very brief glimpse of USF2000s on the international stream... they're probably just testing the equipment but at least it proves that some cars have actually visited the track today

Green flag according to T&S for the 1 hour session. At least that is what T&S says it is. ESPN3 isn't coming on for 20 more minutes AFAIK.

Officials probably did visit some time ago, but many of the preparations simply can't be done all that far in advance, because it would be far too much interference with the normal operations of the city.

Also, it wouldn't surprise me if Irene set things back by a day or two.

When I mentioned the light rail, I said that the tracks were being covered. That can't be done until the point at which you're planning to shut down rail service altogether for the event itself.

Honestly, and especially with the first Atlantic Coast hurricane in 15 years, there are just a lot of things that are out of the hands of the sanctioning bodies at the end of the day.

There is already a red flag according to T&S and nobody has even completed a lap yet!

The Muscle Milk car has stopped at T3 supposedly. Not sure why.

Yep sure, what will it take for you to not defend this event?

Less than six safety car periods, no driver or spectator injuries, a safe and good racetrack, and not long delays and construction the day of the.....

Oh wait.

Is anything I said there untrue?

Hey, I want every event we can get to succeed. Street circuits appear to be THE option right now. I mean, Portland and Sears Point just aren't happening (whether it's sanction fee, date, attendance concerns related to date/weather). Watkins Glen is very unlikely to happen for ALMS (ISC-owned). You guys shot down my thoughts on VIR. So, what permanent circuits are left?!

I for one didnt shoot down your thoughts on VIR. The circuit is one of the best in North America IMO. Would love for the ALMS to go to Virginia, depending on what layout they use. VIR in my opinion is a perfect example of circuits I would love to see joining the ALMS calender.

Sorry, didnt mean my comment to be personal.

Just guessing here, but probably around 7:30-8.

EDIT: 7:36 according to Google.

Good news, looks like ALMS qualifying/dark wont be an issue at all. Seems to be clean right now at Baltimore judging by Timing.

Not really. They announced an hour or hour and a half back that the session was moving up 20 minutes. That probably wasn't enough time for ESPN3 to change their schedule again (for the fourth time already!).

Is anybody on either ESPN3 or ALMS.com getting pictures? Past 2.40 ET now, or was the stream supposed to start later?

Nope, nothing. I am just getting a spinning "hourglass" on ESPN3 when I click the ALMS link.

FCP, I just want the events to be successful. And yes, I'm a bit frustrated over the delays.

Don't sweat it.
