Jamie Whincup in Townsville???

Hey Guys.. did anyone else besides me see Jamie Wincup's car in Townsville last week????? I thought they were supposed to be up in Darwin. I only caught a glimpse of the car but i'm sure it was the Triple8 No1 car.

dunno bout Townsville, but I DEFINATELY saw the #1 car down Ingham way after the Darwin stint!

A Vodafone show car has been up this way for a while. It was in the Stockland shopping centre sometime last week between Woolworths and the Vodafone store, and Fabian Coulthard took it for a lap when he was up here in the weeks before Darwin.

The car is just a road car with the rear wing on it, painted in the team colours. It only had a road car front bumper on it, so I couldn't even check out this flash mounting system that has everyone so flustered!

That would be cool man!!.. I didn't see any camera trucks and stuff like that I just saw the car driving flat chat between the cane fields. It looked awesome cos there was dust and stuff flying up and the car sounded like at the races it's was so loud!! do you know what they're doing in there???.. why were they using the cane fields????

There is no way it was the race car, and theres also no way it was 'as loud' as the race car.

It would have been a road car painted up in the colours (the JD cars were always at sip'n'saves before clipsal) and, suggest it was a V8 (highly unlikely), it would just have had the stock exhaust.

i would suggest if it was within cane fields, then it was a shot for the add billy mentions, as sugar manufacturer (grower?) CSR is the manufacturer of the E85 used in V8SC's, and quite possibly uses a bit of suger cane in the process

What stops them putting a loud exhaust on a road car like most of the Doof Doof brigade do so it sounds "like" a real race car while being filmed??

Nothing is stopping them. Its just highly unlikely they'd do it.

Either way, the thread starter made it seem like Jamie got bored and took the car for a spin 400k's across the top end.......

Probably wasn't even him driving it....

wholy crap!!! someone just sent me an email saying the new TV ad with the Vodafone car in the sugar cane fields is up on that flickr page. There's a giant crop circle at the end and it's like they are looking for ufo's. Something has been blurred out at the end too.. bizarre!!!

The third ad called "Leaders in our field" looks cool and shows one of the Vodafone cars driving through the sugar cane. Mystery solved indeed.. This is what I saw weeks ago.
