racer10 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

It is rumoured that American standout Dale Huffstetler is going to take over testing duties for a formula 1 team in 2001. It has not been announced as of yet which team, but its been speculated he has spoke with jordan and arrows. Has anyone heard anymore on this?

Not a name . . . only that Eddie Jordan's been taking a look at a couple of Americans.

Welcome to the Forum racer10. Forgive my ignorance but who is Dale Huffstetler, and what is he currently doing?

Hi Racer10.

Are we talking about Huffstetler the Late Model Stocks driver? I didn't know he had any open-wheel experience. It strikes that his speciality would not be of a huge amount of interest to a Formula 1 team.

I've got a hunch that people like Derek Hill (Barber Dodge series) or Casey Mears (Indy Lights) would be a lot higher up an F1 team's wish list.

And in the wake of a generally well received Indy GP, I don't mind betting that there's going to be a lot more positive overtures going back and forth across the Atlantic between teams, sponsors and potential driving talent.

Casey Mears is under consideratoin by Target Chip Ganassi, but he is considered a lightweight - it's the name that is getting him the test, I suspect, and perhaps in Europe no one would be particularly impressed by him being the son of Rick Mears.

Subliminal message: Gore is a rat!!

How appropriate: A possible American F1 driver named Dale. Wouldn't that be great?

I really don't care if it's Jeff Gordon (whom I have a great dislike in NASCAR), but we need an American in F1 ASAP.

I'll do it if no one else will. They may have to grease the sides of the cockpit and get a large shoehorn to fit me in, (the Nigel Mansell car entry ) but I'll do it.

We need a Black American Woman in F1. Let's cover all the bases while we're looking for someone on qualities other than whether or not he or she can actually drive. And make sure she looks good naked, so she can pose in the now traditional Woman Athlete Costume. Since she'd of course be hired for her ability to drive.
