Yeah, seems a little silly since drivers have been doing it for eons. Although to be fair, a glass bottle filled with liquid dropped on someone can be pretty nasty.

Judging by that picture he didn't let go very well. Should have been a straight perpendicular to the ground drop. That risked spilling the drink due to the angle. The risk of spillage clearly requires a fine. $1,000? He got off lightly.

On Saturday we saw an official only metres from the track with cars driving at 100% while under a safety car.
