356sc should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Le Mans Legends

Does anyone know whether an initial draw has been made for this year's Le Mans Legends race?

the race is for 1950ies sports cars again, no surprise there, given that it was Group C last year.

I have had my entry for the Kieft Climax confirmed last week by MRL via Email.

First I would think that they allocate all grid slots in one go, not several drafts
They have to pick 60 cars out 200, thats doable.
This is not Le Mans Classic, where they need to sift through 1.000 + entries for 300 + slots.

second
entering a Porsche 356 will allways be a very long as they made several 1.000 per year ! totally different of course if you have a Carrera 2 or somesuch

bear in mind that several grid slots go to indispensable cars such as Jaguar C and D type, Aston Martin DBR 3 and the like...

Hi Rudolf..given the GT speedster is one of only 7 we were hoping to get the nod ahead of the "more common" 356's (and Carrera 2's for that matter!!)...but I do take your point that to the normal punter one 356 look very much like the next one!!

i was mislead by your nick....

my guess though is that You still face a lot of competition from other Porker owners

We got this reply.

The selection committee for the 2013 Le Mans Legend race, in conjunction with the Automobile Club de L’Ouest, has made the decision not to accept E-type Jaguars for this year’s event, with the exception of any cars which actually competed at Le Mans in period.

I assume this criteria is being applied to all makes !
Will be interested to see which E Types are accepted.

Being a bit cynical about these things I would have thought that should you be a regular customer of the organisers you get a start should you have a correct car .If not you have to have the precise type that ran at Le Mans in period or actual Le Mans car.
I would do it that way.
People turn up to do one of your events once every blue moon and then wonder why they don't get the nod.
The Abarth was pitched out due to not having the size of engine that ran at Le Mans
Probably 356's will be ones that have run in MRl events and there are enough to give a balanced.grid.
That applies to several other makes.

John.
It`s not cynicism you profess it is simply being pragmatic.
Although I know you will agree, it becomes a little more complicated when the organisers do not run any other events for which your car may be eligible.
